Chrnes Posted June 5, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted June 5, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Missing files! I shot a wedding yesterday on my SL. When I came home 130 pictures were missing on the card (SanDisk 64GB Extreme Plus 90 MB/s). There is a 130 picture gab between two picture numbers and I am sure that I have previewed some of them after I took them. I have tried to recover deleted files from the card with RescuePro Deluxe which came with the card but no luck. I recovered just about every picture I had taken on previously and deleted/formated but not the 130 missing pictures. An other recovery tool could see 80 of the files but when they were recovered they could not be read. Any similar experiences and/or suggestions? ramarren Posted June 5, 2016 Share #2  Posted June 5, 2016 No similar experiences ... I just checked my master SL archive and found no gaps in my image file numbers (just the big jump that happened when I installed the beta firmware the first time and the camera reset the numbering).

Ingo Posted June 5, 2016 Share #5  Posted June 5, 2016 What a bummer.I never lost a file since I use the SL. I use the same SanDisk SD card as you (with 128 GB).
MediaFotografie Posted June 5, 2016 Share #6 Â Posted June 5, 2016 I had the same problem - but only with FW 1.1 and the card in Slot 1 (Sandisk UHS-II card), the second card contains all files; gone since FW 1.2 in my case...
FlashGordonPhotography Posted June 6, 2016 Share #7 Â Posted June 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well that sucks..... Â I hope they weren't in a critical pert of the day. Â I also can't be of much help. I've shot 4 weddings and several dozen corporate shoots with my SL and had no problems. I have not lost a file yet. I didn't put my SL into my working rotation until firmware 2.0 due to the TTL flash issues. Â Maybe some more information might help with pinpointing a problem. SL or M or other lens? TTL flash? Camera mode and settings? I for one would like to see if I can reproduce your issue, just so we can stop it happening to others. Â And to Leica..... This is EXACTLY why we need improved card handling between the two slots. Being able to shoot jpegs to card two would have eliminated this problem. Chrnes Posted June 7, 2016 Author Share #8 Â Posted June 7, 2016 I shot in A mode with M lenses. Some of the shot were done in APS-C mode to get a little closer with my 90mm. I have 300 shots from the day - some before the missing ones and a lot after.
douglas fry Posted June 14, 2016 Share #9  Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) Funnily enough I nearly had a heart attack today on a corporate shoot, loads of pictures were missing from the morning session, I downloaded both cards and the same result with both, about 100 images missing but I know I previewed them with the client.  Found the problem, the latest version of PhotoMechanic is a bit flakey, I deleted all the images and started over again, unchecking 'new photos only', and the images appeared...They hadn't been downloaded already so PM shouldn't have flagged them as such....The time code is one hour off on the 'missing' images however, which is odd, not sure whether that is PM or the camera, I will keep an eye on it from now on  The camera is set to GPS time, I wonder whether the camera suddenly acquired a GPS signal and readjusted the time? acordes Posted January 23 Share #11  Posted January 23 Years later then the original post... BUT I had the same problem .... lost images and had no idea why ... have a gap of 25 images... I was using two SD cards of different types... SL 601 was and is on firmware 4.1 ... slot 1: SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC UHS-II Speicherkarte V90 128 GB slot 2: SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC 64GB Class 10 Storage option was I think: Standard SD1&SD2... I'm not sure, but my gut tells me that the two SD cards setting maybe are involved in the problem... Cheers Axel
