LUF Admin Posted June 2, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks as if Novoflex is targeting Leica SL customers: After the AF adapter for Canon EF lenses the German manufacturer now introduces a tripod collar for Leica SL lenses. scott kirkpatrick Posted June 2, 2016 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2016 Very nice and sensible looking. Does anyone know the diameter that it clamps (to see if it could also be used with some of the R telephotos that lack their own clamps)? scott
Ivar B Posted June 2, 2016 Share #3 Posted June 2, 2016 Very nice - I will order one. It seems that the mount is flexible and I am certain that Novoflex has taken future lenses into consideration as well and it would be strange if R lenses or 3rd party lenses should not fit. ramarren Posted June 2, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 2, 2016 That's a nice piece ... I had one of the Novoflex ASTAT-NEX supports when I had Novoflex adapters for the Sony A7. This looks like a good fit for the SL24-90, which is a touch large to hang off the camera's mounting flange and threaded tripod mounting IMO. I wouldn't consider it a replacement for the supplied tripod mount on the 90-280, however, and the diameter is way too big for any of my R lenses—all of the larger, heavier ones I'd want one for have their own built-in tripod mounts anyway. One thing I found with the previous ASTAT-NEX I had was that the Arca-Swiss plate incorporated into it was just a hair too thin to be gripped properly by the RRS or A-S lever-lock tripod clamps. I had to fit a thin shim under it before putting it into the tripod clamp for it to be securely locked in place. Knob-style A-S clamps don't have this problem, all the ones I've tried had enough adjustment to accommodate it.
Joshua Lowe Posted June 2, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 2, 2016 That looks very rugged and it's something the 24-90 really needed.
Leicaiste Posted June 2, 2016 Share #6 Posted June 2, 2016 I don't know about the big blue screw.
johnbuckley Posted June 3, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those with knowledge of the dimensions of the Vario-Elmar R 80-200, do you this tripod collar fits? (Mine is in another state, and so I can't check the dimensions quickly to see.)
