steveBK Posted May 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed these started to show up on eBay.. Most interestingly, they have a cutout so you can still access SD/battery compartment.. Example - http://www.ebay.com/itm/311478660705 They seem to come in various materials/finishes, and I'm familiar with that HK seller so it's reasonably legit at least. Anyone try these or similar products?
Advertisement Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Hi steveBK, Take a look here Leica Q 3rd party grip(s)?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leica Guy Posted May 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 12, 2016 Eliminates the tripod mount. They could have incorporated an Arca-Swiss edge. I would not be be interested. I have an Arte di Mano half case which has a nice grip. Works fantastic. Includes an access port for the SD / battery. Expensive.
jmschuh Posted May 12, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 12, 2016 Cheaper and in my opinion better (more protective and practical) than an Arte di Mano half case: http://www.limsdesign.com/product/detail.html?product_no=121&cate_no=12&display_group=1 ca. 95€ (via ebay, shipment included) P.S.: Great website, Danny! lucerne Posted May 12, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 12, 2016 I, and a few others (Jmschuh)) on this forum have Mr Lim's Q leather half case with integrated grip and easy access to card and battery and tripod mount. About the same price on EBay, but much better protection for the body and less "in your face". IMHO.
steveBK Posted May 13, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted May 13, 2016 Mr Lim's case caught my eye as well. Always on the fence with leather half cases - summer sweat factor & risk of rub wear on the edges marking the body anyway. The grip does come in more discreet color - http://www.ebay.com/itm/281847731057 The Leica grip is out of the question for me with the battery door being sealed. I will likely get a thumbs up either way, though not sure if grip+thumbs up is overkill for the Q or not. For the M240 I love the Leica Grip + Thumbs up combo, but there's also a bit more weight to support there..
lucerne Posted May 13, 2016 Share #6 Posted May 13, 2016 I don't dislike this option with the less obtrusive grip, but still prefer to also have body protection. I notice that it does have a tripod fitting - albeit in an unusual position. The choice is up to you. Mr Lim's case does add some height to the Q which helps with grip. charleswolford Posted May 16, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 16, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I purchased one of the Mr. Lim's cases from eBay and it is great! Doesn't add much weight and the grip is very comfortable. I would recommend it
