rjsphd Posted March 29, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have you tried the finger loop attachment for the M 240 handgrip? Anyone have good things to say about it? (Caveats about loose screw accidents, aside.)
Advertisement Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Hi rjsphd, Take a look here Finger Loop, Anyone?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peter H Posted March 29, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2016 I liked the idea far more than the reality. The reality is that it got uncomfortable quite quickly. After a short while, half an hour to an hour say, I really needed to liberate my fingers. I never use it anymore, and have gone back to a nice soft silk strap (A&A) that I can put round my neck when I need both hands free for any reason, or use as a wrist strap all day long. wda Posted March 29, 2016 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2016 I tried all sizes of the Leica loop on my X Vario without success. Only the largest one fitted my hand and operating the camera was impossible. I really do not see a need for a loop provided you have an acceptable neck or wrist strap. jto555 Posted March 29, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2016 Never tried it. I like to be able to use my hands when I have a camera on me. Open a door or even drink a cup of coffee without having to put down the camera. Try to change a lens with the camera stuck to your hand.
rjsphd Posted March 29, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted March 29, 2016 Well, thanks for saving me the trouble of trying and returning it. This forum is great!
jcraf Posted March 29, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 29, 2016 I use a large loop on the handgrip of my Q. It was a used camera and came bundled with these 2 extras. So I thought I'd give the loop a try. I like mine; didn't think I would, but I do. This may sound very, very obvious, and apologies if it is, but you will find it impossible to use if you put the index and middle finger through the loop, which seems the intuitive way to do it; putting the middle and ring finger through allows one to operate the shutter release easily with the index finger. My opinion, fwiw, and I have never had a screw come loose either ( at least not on a finger loop). I am also a fan of decent wrist straps though, which I use on all my M cameras. Exodies Posted March 29, 2016 Share #7 Posted March 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use a finger loop on my m240 and find it very comfortable. I carry a bag too and put the camera in that when I need my fingers. Tighten the screw every time you pick it up.
ECohen Posted March 29, 2016 Share #8 Posted March 29, 2016 I dont use one so I have no opinion,...but you may want to have a look at this past thread too. "Screw loose - Crash with Leica M because of finger loop" http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/227870-screw-loose-crash-with-leica-m-because-of-finger-loop/ oops just read your caveat.....spoke too soon sorry
AlanJW Posted March 30, 2016 Share #9 Posted March 30, 2016 I tried it and almost immediately sold it. I prefer the grip alone. YMMV
