What FL is this shot at? I know one person who shoots headshots at 300m (difficult to build a rport with the subject at that distance).

something around 100. I don't take much longer even in bright light, as then the models are to much compressed. Also in my opinion this is the best focal length for this lens

If we didn't already know which lens was used, this could have been shot with even wider lenses.....35, 50, 75.  Depends on how far away the photographer was (creating perspective), whether the picture was cropped, the aperture used, and so on.

Hello Jeff,

I think that part of the implied structure of the question about which focal length is being used is:

Assuming that this is a photo taken with a lens that is using all of the sensor capture area: Which focal length was used?

Otherwise this could have been taken with a 21mm lens with the photographer standing at the same point where the photographer stood when they took this photo.

Best Regards,

Michael

Exactly, but I was responding to your exact words...  "The perspective looks like it was photographed with a 90mm lens, or thereabout."

Sorry, found the test terribly uninspiring and superficial.  (Not your fault, of course   :p  :p )

Talking about distortion, but not able to hold the lens in a right angle (perpendicular) to the brick wall. Ridiculous ! (See first photo of brick wall).

Stepphen,

Not really a fair comment.  "Prise en main", in the title, means "first impression" (singular intentional, not "prise en mains", which would be more litteral!

I presume a more extensive review will follow.

Here's some shots with the 90-280 & the new SL 3.0 firmware. Went on a 28 day safari through Namibia & Botswana. The autofocus has improved very much in my eyes, I have taken photo's which were not possible before. With that I mean with tracking birds, better auto tracking of subjects and photographing towards the sunlight.

Please note: photo's are quickly edited (minor color editing in Lightroom), needs some refining when back at home :) .

Sure nice pics by the way. But sadly this nice lens, and I own it too, has no reach for bird photography.
