Stuck framelines any tips?

I have a M240 the normal one not the M-P with the frame line selector lever and I mounted up my 90mm this AM from my 50mm frame lines were stuck on the 50mm version.

1) At first I thought that the lens didn't recognize properly. So I remounted it. Still 50mm

2) Figured it might be the lens. Tried 28mm -- still stuck on 50mm.

3) Removed lens wiped off LED sensor -- still stuck on 50mm

4) Set the lens manually rather than automatic - still stuck on 50mm

4) Checked info for test pictures. The camera is detecting the lens correctly just the frame lines are stuck.

Any other ideas?

Is this a send it to Leica service kind of thing? Just hope it clears up?

Just a comment on #3.......

The LED sensor has nothing to do with frame lines. They are purely mechanical using the mount of the lens.

Sounds like the cam is stuck. Somewhere on the forum are pictures and help on unsticking them, I think.

In the top of the lens mount on the camera body is a round cam on a lever. When you mount a lens the cutout on the lens mount moves that lever and that's what activates a given pair if frame lines. You should be able to move that lever a little with your finger.

Errrr that's the focussing cam, touching that won't help.

The frame lines are triggered by one of the bayonet lugs, a simple mechanical link.

If the don't change when you move the lever I think you need someone to open up the camera and un-stick them.

Remove the lens, and look closely at the exposed body mount.  Exactly opposite the lens lock button, and behind (under, inside...?) the bayonet ring proper, you should see the end of a small "tongue" of rather thin metal.  That´s the one; it is the "feeler" for the position of the bayonet lug on the lens, which is different for the three possible frame pairs.  See if some foreign particle has got stuck there.  If not (I don´t know if I really recommend this, unless you know what you´re doing.. ), you MIGHT get a tiny screwdriver or similar instrument, and gently push that tongue downwards, towards the bottom plate of the camera (absolutely not inwards, towards the sensor).  It should move a small amount, bringing in first the 50/75 frames, and then the 28/90.  Let go of it, and it should spring back to the 35/135 position, which is the normal one with no lens attached.  If something prevents it from these movements, and your motioning it doesn´t help, it needs professional service.
