enboe Posted February 5, 2016 Share #1  Posted February 5, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received the new 28/2.8 Elmarit yesterday.  When I went through the leather case, I noted that there was no thread protector ring for use when not attaching the hood.  A thread protector ring is included with the 35 and 50 Summarit 2.5 and 2.4 models and the Leica Q.  Is it also included with the new Elmarit?  Thank you.  Eric

jdlaing Posted February 5, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted February 5, 2016 I don't believe the Elmarit has a screw on hood. Does it?

jdlaing Posted February 5, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted February 5, 2016 Ahh. If that's the case, in other lenses with this hood, the ring may be buried in the foam.
gpwhite Posted February 5, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted February 5, 2016 Ahh. If that's the case, in other lenses with this hood, the ring may be buried in the foam. Â On the 28 Summilux, the ring is actually attached by default, underneath the shade-receiving external thread on the lens. In this intriguing design, the "filter gap" always has something in it.
