AceVentura1986 Posted January 24, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) After some light shooting today w my M9M, I uploaded the files to Lightroom and was shocked to find that they were JPGs rather than DNGs. I never shoot jpg, but always shoot raw. My my only explanation is that I remember accidentally fumbling with the buttons and dial while the M9M was slung across my back. I'm thinking I must have inadvertently set it to JPG. Although it seems unlikely to me my only other explanation is either a bug in the firmware or a defective camera. I've shot digital leicas now for five years, M8, ME prior to this camera and have never had this experience. Has anyone heard of this w the M9M before? Btw, I'm running firmware 1.008. Is it more likely just user error?

Chuck Albertson Posted January 24, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2016 One thing I'm always on guard for with my MM is the ISO changing, usually from the ISO button bumping against my gut when I carry the camera around my neck. I know it shouldn't happen, but it does, usually from 320 to 800. It could happen with the "Set" button on the MM, or you might have accidentally set it to JPEG. 250swb Posted January 24, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 24, 2016 It's only possible if you press the wrong button. As always create a Profile including your .dng preference and save it so that when you have been playing with various buttons (and yes, we all do it) you have your datum point to quickly revert to instead of back tracking through the things you changed (intentional or not). AceVentura1986 Posted January 24, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted January 24, 2016 Steve, that's an excellent idea. Going to do that for both my MM and ME. Thanks.
jaapv Posted January 26, 2016 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2016 It happens when the camera reverts to the default user profile. Mine has done so once or twice without any discernible reason.
