hepcat Posted January 20, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2016 You don't really need a CLA, just a rangefinder re-alignment. It got knocked out of alignment somehow. Any competent repair shop should be able to do that for you.
adan Posted January 20, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2016 Well, the "crookedness" is just the rangefinder telling you that the far end, and near end, of the white rectangular thing are at different distances (ranges) from your camera. And that is exactly what a rangefinder is supposed to do. It shows you the world from two different locations 7 cms apart, and the world looks different and angled from those two viewpoints, at every point except the exact point of focus. It looks like this image was made at a very close distance, which makes the effect more obvious. The fact that you can't align both ends of the box, is the RF reminding you that you can't focus on both ends of the box at once - pick one or the other. The attached shows two actual pictures in an analogous situation - taken close-up from 7cm apart, left and right, and overlapped (as though made with a stereo camera, or one through each window of a Leica). They are crooked compared to one another. Perfectly normal behavior when overlapping two points of view. It is possible that the RF image is slightly out of vertical alignment - but that will be a direct up-and-down problem, not "crooked." Welcome, dear visitor!
