lleo Posted January 11, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted January 11, 2016 Thank you mnutzer. But this is wrong, if I'm not missing something: "21/4 Voigtlander: Introduced in 2001, rangefinder coupled, a great performing compact lens at a low price. An excellent 21 brightline finder is also included. "
duckrider Posted January 11, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm sure the 25mm was not coupled, but as I remember the 21mm was coupled. http://shop.fotopartner.de/WebRoot/Fotopartner/Shops/Fotopartner/4AF7/404E/CF82/D74C/796E/4DEB/AE17/D861/V_Color_Scopar_21_4_04.jpg Thomas
TomB_tx Posted January 11, 2016 Share #5 Posted January 11, 2016 Yes, the 21 f4 LTM is rangefinder coupled. Very good lens. https://shop.cameraquest.com/voigtlander-leica-mount-rangefinder-lenses/voigtlander-21mm-21/4-leica-screw-mount-color-skopar-silver-lens-w/21mm-viewfinder/
lleo Posted January 11, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted January 11, 2016 Thank you all. I thought the 21 was not coupled as well as the 25 but I was wrong. Good to know.
Guest Posted January 11, 2016 Share #7 Posted January 11, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you mnutzer. But this is wrong, if I'm not missing something: "21/4 Voigtlander: Introduced in 2001, rangefinder coupled, a great performing compact lens at a low price. An excellent 21 brightline finder is also included. " I'm sorry but I don't own a Voigtlaender Skopar 4.0-21mm ltm. But currently one is offered. And the seller guarantees that the lens disengages from infinity to 70cm to the rangefinder, below 70cm the distance has to be estimated until the minimum focusing distance of 50cm. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Voigtlander-Voigtlander-Color-Skopar-21mm-f4-0-M39-LTM-Leica-M/191779714594?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107083420%26meid%3Dc719a5143c14495e81d049d1f06d9c68%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D391344490526
lleo Posted January 11, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted January 11, 2016 The question is the estimation is on Leica M. I don't know if on Barnack's work in the same way. Anyways this is black and it wouldn't be good. I found one in the States, silver, but they don't ship Voigtländer products outside the Country. They probably have some agreement with the company. duckrider Posted January 12, 2016 Share #9 Posted January 12, 2016 I don't see a difference between Barnack or M- Leica focussing, Barnacks quit at 1m, like M3, others work down to 0,7. Seller of ebay link above mentioned the 21mm worked with a IIIF. Offer is endet, was a fair price. Why no black one? I could imagine this would be nice looking on a chromium screw mount camera. gyoung Posted January 12, 2016 Share #10 Posted January 12, 2016 Original Voigtlander 15mm and 25mm ltm lenses did not couple with the rf, later on they did. The 21/4 has always had coupling as far as I can remember. I have one and it is very good, although I was perfectly happy with the uncoupled 25 when I had it, easy enough to estimate focus at such short focal lengths andd small apertures. lleo Posted January 12, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted January 12, 2016 Thanks for the advices. Duckrider, yes probably black if good as well, but I'm quite conservative and I'd like more silver on silver than black on silver.
Guest Posted January 12, 2016 Share #12 Posted January 12, 2016 ...I'd like more silver on silver than black on silver. Sometimes silver finishes from different brands look a little bit different. For example the Super-Angulon 4.0-21 built by Schneider for Leica has a slightly different silver tone than original chrome Leica lenses. Also a silver Metrawatt Meter shimmers slightly different than a chrome M2, M3 or M4. You have already noticed these two offers from Japan? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Voigtlander-Color-Skopar-21-mm-F-4-0-MC-with-finder-For-Leica-Screw-from-JAPAN/191777622708?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D34494%26meid%3Dafa596aaf8fb4cc3b534cc85caa6717e%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D191779714594 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Voigtlander-Color-Skopar-21-mm-f-4-Lens-for-Leica-Screw-Silver/231790661397?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35006%26meid%3D122451978b8544c29910607a433a2b2c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D191777622708
lleo Posted January 12, 2016 Author Share #13 Posted January 12, 2016 Yes, I know the silvers are all different. Yes, Mnutz, thanx. I saw those auctions. However Japanese seem to be quite hard headed, though I have a huge admiration over them (beside the whale shame). They only ship to registered paypal addresses. I don't want to have anything to do with the thieves, so I'm off the range of the possible buyers. Also. The sellers seem not to answer to any questions. Maybe because they don't speak english (Japanese barely speak foreign languages), even though there is the option to contact the seller, if you do it you'll see there's no way to send the message. It says that seller cannot answer right now. Right now mean always. I'l looking elsewhere though. Hey Vielen Dank for your help.
Orient XI Posted January 13, 2016 Share #14 Posted January 13, 2016 Sometimes silver finishes from different brands look a little bit different. One "silver" finish that is different on every example I have seen is the very bright chromium plating on the f/4 135mm Elmar. Any ideas why?
lleo Posted January 13, 2016 Author Share #15 Posted January 13, 2016 I don't know how they used to do the chroming. It might be a difference quantity of chrome, or a difference of time in the zync bath (or chrome), hard to say.
jankap Posted January 18, 2016 Share #16 Posted January 18, 2016 I still like my Canon 28mm 2.8 LTM. I bought it around 1968. A very small lens and at APS-C 42mm equivalent. Jan
