fraswa Posted January 25, 2016 Share #82 Posted January 25, 2016 90% of the time i use the M system, M-P / M2 w tri-x and 35-50-90 focal lenghts. Especially when travelling I go light with just the M-P and 35/50. When I do the occasional portrait / wedding I use my canon 6D and extrema-ratio-backup 1200D with 24 1.4 / 50 1.2 / 85 1.2 autofocus lenses set I also bring the mamiya 645 with the 80mm when going on photo-centered trips. Joshua Lowe Posted January 25, 2016 Share #83 Posted January 25, 2016 I picked up an Xpan and an Olympus 35 SP. The Xpan's been on my bucket list of cameras for years. I spent a little more for a camera complete with the original box, papers, etc. It's a keeper. The Oly's over 40 years old and looks practically brand new. And it cost all of $50. Thank you, Craigslist.
jmahto Posted January 25, 2016 Share #84 Posted January 25, 2016 Lately I have experimented with my old Canon P&S A2300 as the "other" camera that I carry on my hikes. It weighs nothing (5oz, 125g with extra battery) and after installing CHDK, I can access RAW files from it. This is my emergency backup now in case my M240 runs into some issues. It can even do timelapse shooting if needed. In good day light, it's RAW output (processed in LR) approaches my Nex-6 (my "other real" camera). I created my own LR profile for correcting the massive distortion at wider end and my RAW processed output is miles ahead of jpeg outout from the camera. I see it as a good example of how camera manufacturers "dumb down" a camera to sell different models at various price level. Now many can say that iPhone can do a reasonably good job too. For that I did a comparison between A2300, iPhone and Nex-6 in day light. A2300 (LR processed) was much closer to Nex-6 than iPhone's.... and A2300 has a 125mm effective tele end. No comparison with iPhone.

Prior to getting the Q it was a Fuji X100. I expect that the Q will remain my primary camera, but I've been surprised before. I've a 75mm Summarit f/2.5 that will be used with the M. asiafish Posted January 25, 2016 Share #86 Posted January 25, 2016 My SLR system consists of a Canon 6D and two sets of lenses, one autofocus and one manual. focus. For autofocus I have 50mm and 85mm f/1.8 Canon primes and a 24-105mm f/4 zoom, and will add a 28mm prime (deciding between the older 28mm f/1.8 and the newer 28mm f/2.8 IS (stabilized). For manual focus I have all Carl Zeiss, the "classic series" 25mm f/2 Distagon, 35mm f/1.4 Distagon and 135mm f/2 APO Sonnar and also the 55mm f/1.4 "Otus" APO Distagon. I got all of the Zeiss lenses used at about half of the retain price, but bought the 135mm new on sale, as it and the 25mm are my primary SLR lenses, with 35mm and 50mm my preferred rangefinder focal lengths. the reason for duplicating those FLs on the SLR system is that when I carry the Canon outfit I generally leave my Leica kit at home. I also have film bodies for both Leica M and Canon EOS systems, specifically an M5 and an EOS 650.
Tailwagger Posted January 26, 2016 Share #87 Posted January 26, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Only recently to M, wth the 240 replacing one of a pair of Fuji XTs for out and about shooting. For landscape work currently I have a 645D and Z, though I expect one of the two will be leaving soon to help finance some additional Leica glass. A few older cameras, Rollei and Nikons, but threw in the towel on film a number of years back. My first camera, sadly long gone, was a Zeiss Contaflex B. Ai_Print Posted January 26, 2016 Share #88 Posted January 26, 2016 Leica use makes up about 20-25% of my overall shooting needs. I have and use: Leica M240, M6TTL, M3, 3 lenses. Nikon D750, D810, F100, F3HP, FM3a, 13 lenses. Hasselblad Xpan Hasselblad 501CM x2, 500ELX, 9 lenses, 12 backs including a CFV50c digital back. Rolleiflex 2.8D Chamonix 45N2, 8 lenses, 40 cut film holders and two 6x12 roll film backs. All of these are used for work, all kick ever loving butt and I don't favor one over the other unless task driven.

Guest Posted January 26, 2016 Share #90 Posted January 26, 2016 Maybe too many, but here goes: Leica, M240, MM1, Q, M7, M6, and about a dozen M lenses, a mix of VC and Leica glass, all except one are under 50mm. I never use an M with a lenses longer than 50mm, 28mm is my "standard" lens. Bessa 4M & A. great cameras, 21mm OVF, perfect for me. Leica R9, with five lenses Nikon D SLR, D700 plus about 15 lenses 60% of which are older non auto-focus which I prefer using to AF. I use the SLR for focal lengths over 50mm. Thinking of going up to a D810 later this year but the D700 is still producing very nice images. 2x Nikon FTN Photomic ( owned/used since 1969 ) and 2x F4's Panasonic GH4, a great camera. I use it for 4K video as well as stills, lens adapters for R, M, Pentax 67 and PL cinema lenses Fuji X10, for me it's a rubbish camera, anyone want one? MF, Pentax 67 kit with six lenses LF, Shen - Hao 4x5 kit with six lenses No particular favourite camera, I just pick the right one for what I need to do. Carry-around camera tends to be the an M, the Q, or maybe the GH4 with pancake 28mm. Then a whole lot of motion picture gear, S16 + S35 film and digital. As I said, too much gear, but hard to get rid of emotionally, ( except the X10! ).....
pippy Posted January 26, 2016 Share #91 Posted January 26, 2016 An assortment of Canon DSLRs and lenses do the bread-and-butter stuff. Tools; no more than that. Under the stairs there are flight cases weighed down with Nikon Fs, F2s and assorted optics; a Sinar monorail and half-a-dozen Schneider lenses; a pre-WWII Rolleicord; a Yashica sub-miniature and various other odds'n'sods. Ballast; no more than that. Philip.
marchyman Posted January 26, 2016 Share #92 Posted January 26, 2016 Was that the original X100 ? Did the x100t not appeal ? Rgds Yes, it was the original X100. I'm sure the X100T was a better camera, but not better enough. I wanted full frame and a wider angle lens. With the Q I got both.
PaulJohn Posted January 27, 2016 Author Share #93 Posted January 27, 2016 Just added a Hasselblad 503cx with Zeiss 50mm (32mm equiv) to my toolset. This will be my first time shooting medium format. I have just loaded Neopan 100 Acros. I hear that medium format film is the ultimate in b&w tonality. Adventure awaits.
Dougg Posted January 28, 2016 Share #94 Posted January 28, 2016 I have 5 digital cameras in usage rotation, two SLR and three RF. I use them pretty much interchangeably and for the same sorts of shooting. Even so, each time planning a vacation I sweat over which camera(s) and lens(es) to take along! I do like giving them all some exercise... I'm an equally-opportunistic shooter. Normally, around home territory, I'll use one camera / one lens for a week or two and then switch. M8, M8, M240, S2, Pentax K-
AndrewDD Posted January 28, 2016 Share #95 Posted January 28, 2016 Just the 2 cameras - M240 and a Q. I don't get on with the Q at all, and hardly use it. Sadly I missed the time when I could have sold it for the same as I paid (when there was a long queue for the Q), and recently have only used it when I'm in a boisterous crowd and manual focus on the M is too difficult. The M does everything I want, it's just that sometimes the eyestrain of manual focus is too much.
