cdg Posted January 2, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello to everybody and happy new year from Italy! I'm wondering if no one has experienced this problem during sequences bracketing. Nothing serious, just a nuisance. My SL (firmware 1.2) set up this way:DNG + JPG (JPG-L);Lexar two 64GB SDXC cards 1000X II (1 + 2 mode);AE braketing with 5 shots Well, my SL produces five regular DNG + JPG plus a sixth strangely corrupted JPG file. Here two samples: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ac1xg2hp3rr8l9/L1010669%20copia.JPG?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/gclld35v4hahgdc/L1010443%20copia.JPG?dl=0 If there is someone who works in Leica, could also put this issue in things to be fixed, please ;-)Ciao and thank you. LUF Admin Posted January 4, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2016 Hi, I just took a quick look at your images - and I can't see anything obvious wrong. Can you explain what you are referring too? If there is a problem we'll forward it to someone in charge at Leica HQ. Andreas

Andreas Very odd frame like artifacts around the child on the right in the first picture and on both subjects on the second picture. Really odd? I've not seen that abberation before. pop Posted January 4, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 4, 2016 I can see parts of the scene duplicated and distorted, including outlines of some shapes. Welcome, dear visitor! Peter Walker Posted January 7, 2016 Share #8 Posted January 7, 2016 Hello to everybody and happy new year from Italy! I'm wondering if no one has experienced this problem during sequences bracketing. Nothing serious, just a nuisance. My SL (firmware 1.2) set up this way: DNG + JPG (JPG-L); Lexar two 64GB SDXC cards 1000X II (1 + 2 mode); AE braketing with 5 shots Well, my SL produces five regular DNG + JPG plus a sixth strangely corrupted JPG file. If there is someone who works in Leica, could also put this issue in things to be fixed, please ;-) Ciao and thank you. Hi cdg, Yes, I am experiencing the same "issue". But, maybe it is not an issue? I have a similar set up to yours but I was doing 3 exposure brackets: 1/3rd under, normal and 1/3rd over. Why was I using exposure bracketing? Shooting winter scenes in Japan with a huge light range from dark trees to bright snow, I found this to be a lazy approach to changing the exposure compensation to suit the scene. In most cases the "normal" turned out to be the best shot; but, for some scenes, the over or under is better. It is a good technique if you have plenty of card space. As I did have lots of card space, I just shot this way for the whole trip. The SL is so fast that the 3 shots rattle off quickly. So, in LightRoom I now have, for every image I shot, 3 x DNG+JPG files plus an extra JPG only file. My theory is that the extra JPG file is a "HDR" compilation of the previous 3 exposures, generated by the SL's image processing engine. If nothing moved between the 3 images, it looks OK. But, if anything moved, e.g. a person, you get this weird, slightly-shifted "ghost" exposure of the part of the person that moved. Maybe Leica tried to do HDR as an extra in-camera feature for exposure bracketing? Anyway, it's not an issue for me. I always load the images into an import folder than use the "pick" function to select the images that will get copied across into my permanent image library. LUF Admin Posted January 7, 2016 Share #9 Posted January 7, 2016 I think Peter is on the right track: The Leica SL manual has this on page 226: The Exposure Bracketing submenu mentioned above in step 3 contains two further items: Automatic and JPG-HDR. JPG-HDR is a function […] that creates one picture with an extended dynamic range, i.e. displaying definition in both very bright and very dark parts of the subject, by automatically combining 3 exposures. So this is not a bug but a feature Andreas
