kittykat Posted December 9, 2015 Share #1  Posted December 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I want to buy a Noctilux f/0.95, wondering if I should buy it for Christmas or wait in case they release a new one for Photokina. Any opinions? Q isn't even available for Christmas.
Advertisement Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Hi kittykat, Take a look here Noctilux f/0.95- Buy one now or wait for Photokina 2016. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peter H Posted December 9, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted December 9, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Â Does anything make you think a new Noctilux is likely? Â Unless you have some very specific information and some equally specific and matching requirements, I can't imagine why waiting would be a good idea if you want one now and can comfortably afford it. Â Buy it now and make yourself and some elves happy.
jaapv Posted December 9, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted December 9, 2015 To a number of posters: The buying and selling of gear is only allowed through the buy and sell section. The forum needs the revenue to stay alive.
Peter Kilmister Posted December 9, 2015 Share #4 Â Posted December 9, 2015 Sorry about that, Jaapv. My fault.

Adrian Lord Posted December 9, 2015 Share #6  Posted December 9, 2015 I think the  interesting thing is that on the used market, F1 noctis are closing the gap price wise on the 0.95. The F1 attaining classic status, and a finite number?
adan Posted December 9, 2015 Share #7 Â Posted December 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Noctilux is a pretty exotic product (in any of its versions) - and doesn't get redesigned very often. 10-year life for the first version, >30 years between the second and current versions. Â I wouldn't expect a new version (absent cosmetic bling like blacked-out aperture numbers) for a long time.
Herr Barnack Posted December 10, 2015 Share #8  Posted December 10, 2015 Welcome to the forum.  Does anything make you think a new Noctilux is likely?  Unless you have some very specific information and some equally specific and matching requirements, I can't imagine why waiting would be a good idea if you want one now and can comfortably afford it.  Buy it now and make yourself and some elves happy. Life is short - get your Noctilux now and enjoy it.  As Adan said, it is highly unlikely that the Noctilux 0.95 will be redesigned/overhauled for many years. If that were to happen any sooner than 2025 or thereabouts, I would be greatly surprised, since the 0.95 was released in 2009 and the f/1.0 Noctilux had a 32 year run. satijntje Posted December 10, 2015 Share #9 Â Posted December 10, 2015 Maybe Leica has a 35mm Nocti on their todo list? John
kittykat Posted December 10, 2015 Author Share #10  Posted December 10, 2015 Thank you all. I'm still learning my way around this forum. Thanks for your replies. I read on Leica Rumours, that Leica had a Nocti in the works- and so the reason for my post.  With other companies releasing faster lenses, I think the pressure is on Leica to maintain its lead. I do hope the 0.95 has another decade. A 35mm might be enormus in size- but a fantastic wish. Nonetheless, I think I will wait till January or February  when we start getting whiffs of surprises that maybe on the way for Photokina. Thanks everyone. Paul J Posted December 10, 2015 Share #11 Â Posted December 10, 2015 It is, apparently, an f1.0 for the SL. But dates have not even been discussed. The 50mm Summilux is not due till end of 2016 so it may even be later.
