Maximus Posted December 5, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I love my MPÂ Â However from the first moment I handled it I noticed that the silver chrome finish seems to darken slightly in areas where it has been touched. Breathing on a microfibre cloth and gently rubbing the finish seems to restore it, but as soon as it is handled it happens again. Â I know this really isn't a big deal, but I have other silver chrome cameras that show the same effect such as the Fujifilm X-100.Does anyone else have the same issue? If so what if anything you do about it? Edited December 5, 2015 by Maximus

pico Posted December 5, 2015 Share #6  Posted December 5, 2015 That's what you get for using it! Seriously, there is an inexpensive, die-cut invisible plastic wrap you can put on the metal. I chose to use only those parts that get particularly worn. It is nicely packaged with graphic directions.  Windex is a good cleaner for the chrome. rxj Posted June 26, 2024 Share #8  Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) Revisiting this old topic as I'd imagine I'm not the only one to have wondered about this. Your mileage may vary and use at own risk but I'm fairly careful with my MP and M11 and it goes into the bag when I'm done shooting but noticed two what I thought were bright marks on it. When the camera "Gets cold" and is not used for a while I notice these dark odd marks on it. If I polish it, it disappears but comes back again. I thought I'd risk using a micro fiber cloth and also a moist micro fiber and none of that worked. I bought a gum soft artists eraser. Used this on the marks I had and they're gone and there's no extra shinyness or any other marks. I didn't rub the whole top plate, only the edge of the eraser on top of the marks with a loupe. This time it didn't come back. Surface, glitteryness looks the same under sunlight at different angles and with a bright light shined on it on different angles. I know these are cameras and need to get used but some people like to take care of what they have at different levels so don't go at me.  before: Welcome, dear visitor! davidmknoble Posted July 7, 2024 Share #9  Posted July 7, 2024 I could be something crawling around in your bag, leaving marks . Especially if they wipe off easily. Random trails…
