M-E disappeared from Leica's website

I'm also proud to be at the very end of CCD Leicas. I bought my new M-E in April and had the sensor replaced in July (just missed the new version) and my 2012 Monochrom was misdiagnosed and then languished at Leoca in NJ for so long that they (Leica) just sent me a brand-new (CCD) Monochrom. That replacement MM is so new that it actually says "Leica Camera Wetzlar" on the back, which not many M9-type cameras do. Who knows, it could be collectible some day.

I first bought an M240 last year and then later I bought an M-E, and now I almost exclusively use M-E.

The following is very casual snap by M-E with M50/1.4a and I was thrilled by its color and contrast.

I bought a brand new one a few days ago for a great price of $3300. It was the last one that the store could get. And this store is the biggest camera store in Scandinavia.

Good choice, you will love the M-E (at least I do).

So do I

Wow, superb set!  Since Leica discontinued M-E, I am afraid sooner or later M-E may become non-substitutable FF CCD classic.  M-E+M28/F2.8 asph:

Sorry, but I've already determined AND pronounced that the M9P is going to become the FF CCD "classic."  <grin>

:D  What a pity, I don't have an M9P.  I can only use M-E to substitute the pity (hardly though), but no future models can be used to substitute the latest M9-class-model M-E.

The end of a classic, I love shooting my M9, so small and nimble, great for carrying all day. How many digital cameras can claim a run of 6 years?

I'm very happy with M9P & a nearly unsued M-E (with new sensor) for backup.  6 years?  I intend to use these hard until they die a noble death.  Have no idea when that will be, but it will be a sad day, hopefully a long time from now.

They've become a part of me as a couple of M3's were for decades.  For what & how I shoot they are all I need, along with a very broad collection of superb lenses old to new and accessories, especially a finely calibrated Visoflex III.  My favorite lens has been the same a long time;  Summi 50mm 2.0, ver IV.  1.4's are just too heavy out of the studio and when using that extra stop, nothing but focus frustrations - thus the Viso when that need arises (fairly often it turns out).

Its sad to me these days quality is going backwards.  Some 95% of photos these days are from phones.  I recently checked into a pretty high end Hilton hotel.  Their brochure's pics were totally pixilated.  I used to get hired to shoot stuff like that.  Always used a 4 x 5.

I'm happy to be part of this community.

Happy shooting!
