goatsby Posted November 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed this on Amazon and wondered if anyone has tried it for the Q yet. I have heard great things about the J.B. Designs grips for other cameras and think this looks pretty nice while allowing access to the battery compartment. Let me know your thoughts, always great to learn from others experience! http://www.amazon.com/J-B-Camera-Designs-Wood-Leica/dp/B0128QZ76U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1448197017&sr=8-2&keywords=Leica+q+grip

m9photo Posted November 22, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2015 I'm sorry but it's too ugly, not sure why it's even made
kmak817 Posted November 22, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 22, 2015 Not for me. Why put something so hideous on such a beautiful instrument?
Brosif Posted November 29, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 29, 2015 Wow guys, tell us how you really feel. Lol. Eye of the beholder, I guess. I LOVE the wood base (bamboo) particularly. I am buying one of these fine grips in the next few days. If no one else says anything, I'll post my impressions up for you m8.
goatsby Posted November 29, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted November 29, 2015 I agree and think it is a beautiful design. I plan on picking it up unless Santa brings it for Christmas, so if you get the grip let me know your thoughts.
stevenhacker Posted December 23, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 23, 2015 Sorry, I have to agree, it is ugly and it is wood.
pgk Posted December 23, 2015 Share #7 Posted December 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Alpa build wooden grips for their (high end) cameras (https://www.alpa.ch/en/section/products/) which look really beautifully made (and are obviously a real precision product). The ones linked to are not up to Alpa's standards of design as far as I can see and I can't see that they offer anything better than the Leica built grips. Now if Alpa was to offer something it might be worth looking at.....
goatsby Posted December 23, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted December 23, 2015 I recently purchased the grip and must say that it is very nice. It looks good (to me, in the obvious minority), adds a nice grip to the camera, protects the bottom quite well and allows me to access the bottom compartment without removing the case. It also hold the camera upright when set down which is a plus. I like the durability of well-crafted wood, and feel confident that the grip will hold up well over time while protecting the Q. If anyone wants pictures with the camera let me know and I will post them here. Adam
viramati Posted December 23, 2015 Share #9 Posted December 23, 2015 I have to say that is one of the most insane things I have ever seen, I mean why? The Leica grip is just so good, okay you have to take it off to change the battery or remove the card but that has never bothered me.
goatsby Posted December 24, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted December 24, 2015 I have the Leica grip for the X Vario and it is indeed nice, but I find this grip to be better. If they made one for the X Vario I would sell the Leica grip and pick up one of these pronto.
ramosa Posted December 24, 2015 Share #11 Posted December 24, 2015 Wow guys, tell us how you really feel. Lol. Will do. Wood + Leica = no sense (to me)
jaapv Posted December 24, 2015 Share #12 Posted December 24, 2015 Seems a bit short to me, it cannot support more than three fingers, besides from looking rather out of place and DIY.
