SL with Panasonic 70-200mm f/4 + 2X TC, cropped at 100% . . .

Not bad for a zoom/TC combo in drab light (the uncompressed file is full of fine details) . . .

A big plus is that the SL with this combo acquires focus very quickly and accurately even on low-contrast subjects in dull light . . . making one wonder why Leica never made a teleconverter for the 90-280mm . . .

Just received my SL and a couple lenses. SL50/1.4 and the 24-90.

After processing my 1st set of shots which were really just get to know the camera shots, ..WOW...I love the files this camera and my 1st two lenses are providing me. I often wondered why people were so uptight about Sony/Canon skin tones, now I know. I finally get to capture skin tones naturally. It's actually a real eye opener as that's pretty much about 1/2 of what I shoot (People). It's nice not to have to adjust the sliders much too. But if you happen to want to sharpen up an image the files handle it extremely well. I'm very very impressed, this older tech is much better than I thought it would be.

The handling is taking a bit to get used to and I don't know if my eyes are good enough to shoot manual lenses. The BL button to magnify works but I'd rather see it implemented like Sony does, when you turn the focus ring, it auto magnifies. (I heard you can do this on the SL2). I love the menu's and the simple button layout. I think I already memorized all my custom settings in 1 day. I'm using the Thumbs up thumb grip and it seems to help balance with 1 hand usage but also jams into my hand a bit. the jury is still out on that.

Took me a little bit to get used to the 50/1.4...But I'm amazed, the colors, contrast transitions from focused to out of focus areas, feels like a very special lens. I could tell while I was shooting it that I was going to be impressed when I got home.

I haven't had much time with the 24-90 but the time I have had has been eye opening as well. It's been a long time since I had a variable aperture standard zoom. like 15 years. Putting it through it's paces yesterday left me satisfied that I'd made the right choice. Fast focus, beautiful bokeh at 90mm's again, the colors. I'm looking forward to doing some landscape with it. It seems very sharp all the way to the edges..

Yes they feel like bricks, but I'm after the best images I can create.

Thanks for reading this newbie's post

Cheers
