I took a couple of days drive to visit friends in southern California, and spent an afternoon at the Palm Springs Air Museum. This beautiful old Stearman was waiting to be fired up.

Some street portraits with the 50Apo. I do enjoy focusing with the movable magnification point, I have to say.

Here is a shot I took last night from my sister's house in the Oakland hills overlooking San Francisco Bay.  1/125s, ISO 800, 50mm Summicron-APO @ f/2.8, daylight white balance, reduced in resolution for the web.  The city of Oakland is in the foreground, San Francisco in the background, the new Bay Bridge is lit up in white on the right-hand side of the image with the Golden Gate almost directly behind it.  The Trans America pyramid, Sutro Tower, and the SF Embarcadero are also visible.  I love this combination of the 50mm APO and the SL.  You can see some astigmatism in the extreme corners at f/2.0 (crescent/football shape to street light flares on street lights), but otherwise the lens is virtually flawless with this sensor.  I stopped this one down to f/2.8 to reduce the astigmatism.  You'd only see it on a point source like the street lights in this image.  The banding you see in the sky is only visible in the JPG version I exported from Lightroom. DNF is no such issues (though you never know what might happen when printing).

ISO 2,500 is the highest I've gone so far, and it looks good, but I didn't have to push the file or anything.

@ all,

looking at your pics I must admit they are just fantastic and meaningful. However, I would really, really like to see some images with (very) high ISO. Regarding visible noise, the SL is between M240 and M246, right ???

The "Pratt & Whitney" photo above was made at ISO 3200, and there are a couple other ISO 3200 exposures I've posted from the SL in this thread. I haven't posted anything made with ISO 6400 or above yet, nor have I used such elevated ISO settings much as yet.

these were at 3200 ....http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/253192-leica-sl-image-thread-post-your-examples-here/page-19?do=findComment&comment=2952057

I have auto iso set to max out at 3200 ...... with NR these files are very clean after PP.

In any situations requiring higher iso I have switched to T mode and used very low shutter speeds of 3/f or less with OIS on ...... results are excellent.

found something at 6400  1/40 at f3.2 ..... full size and then 100% crop

optimised in LR to best compromise between sharpening and nr ......
