SL with 180mm f/2.8 APO-Elmarit-R and APO-Extender-R 1.4X and 2X stacked . . .

Leica glass never ceases to amaze . . . shot in strong backlight the worst I could get was some inoffensive specular highlights.  A great way to 500mm on the SL without getting a crick in the neck!

lot of damage to the roof ?

Amazingly . . . not a single roof tile was broken!  The fronds somehow cushioned the landing.

My area was hit by tropical winds or perhaps category 1, but, being on the northeast quadrant - aka the "dirty side" - there were many embedded tornados touching down. I'm pretty certain this is what brought this tree down, as there were a few others ravaged in the similar path.

"Roots".

Vikas, yes, I was so very fortunate.

Scattered foliage down but for the most part but very little structural damage. No house damage.  It was nonetheless quite unsettling to sit through the storm in a well protected home (which I will not likely do again) and to listen to the warnings about tornado activity touchdowns on the weather stations. Had we been hit by a category 4 or 5, as had been expected a day earlier it would have been absolutely devastating to south Florida.

I was without utilities for several days. 95 degree stagnant temperature.  I believe 80% have now gotten power restored.

The Florida Keys was completely ravaged. Unbelievable damage there.

After some 24 hours of battering, wildlife returns across the lake the next morning and the skies clear.

glad you escaped the worst of it rob.....your after 24 hours photo is testament to how we wonder at the resourcefulness of the birds, and rejoice in their songs when they re-emerge once the tempest, full of sound and fury, has passed.

Hi Rebecca,

There was an amazing kind of tranquility the next morning, as the sun finally peaked. The skies were clear, the colors were beautiful, and the rush of the wind was softly replaced by the gentle chirping of the birds once again.  Such a contrast with the fury that was there several hours earlier.

(In fact, during the raging of the storm, we had seen a heron/stork (I'm not good with bird species) huddled in a hedge of cat palms on the patio. Very much a contrast to see this tall, thin-legged 'frail' bird trying to find a bit of shelter from those monster winds. Not sure what happened to him as he had moved on by the next morning).
