Nice images from the horce races.

What autofocus mode did you use and why? What were your experiences with the other modes, which you most probably have tested, too?

I didn’t try all possible settings but stuck to what gave me a good enough hit rate. My aim was to produce a series of two or three pictures of a race with the front running horse always in focus as the pack was racing by. I set Focus Mode to AFc, the AF Mode to Dynamic and I tried Field and Zone in AF Field Size. Zone somehow worked better for me to acquire focus on the front runner as the horses were approaching. For Drive Mode I tried Continuous Low Speed and Continuous Medium Speed. Low Speed gave me better results. Once I acquired focus on the front runner, I started shooting, kept the shutter pressed to continue shooting and panned as the horses were racing past me. The hit rate was about fifty percent with half of the shots either completely out of focus or focused on one of the other horses in the back. One of the issues was black out of the EVF as the camera was taking a series of pictures. I basically had to guess where the front runner was as I was panning along.

Germans like to leave their bikes just right outside their apartment windows. But in order to prevent anybody from stealing them, they thought of something ingenious.

I'm loving the way that lens draws! Both foreground and background. Kind of Zeiss like - reminds me of my 100/2 macro planar. Was this wide open?

not that widest but f3.2

i think the Apo lanthar is one of those macro lenses you can use best wide open. This lens is also good in that range round about f7 and smaller but the best pictures are wide open.
