Beautiful pictures! Which lens did you use?

Thank you so much. I am lucky enough to own a 50mm Summilux. The results, as you can see, are wonderful. The pictures of the two females were both taken at f/1.4. The young man was shot slightly stopped down, I think the f/5.6

I really like this one, nice shot!

Thank you also and yes, I was very happy with this one. Olivia is an interesting young lady; she was very happy to be part of this project but clearly is also well used to taking and posting selfies. She has mastered the 'puckered' look of self confidence but it was ringing hollow and I was trying to get one of her that was perhaps a little more vulnerable. This particular shot was a lucky catch while setting up - she is holding a large silver reflector in her hands and is readying herself for a close up. I took one very quickly before she thought I would make the shot and this is what I got.

All these images are from a project series looking at the transition from youth, the adolescenec and into adult hood. It will be a very long term project, started this summer but probably will last a few years. This first part, which has focused on capturing a series of formal portraits is feeling complete and I've put a book together of the series. It's here as a PDF if anyone is interested:

A sensitive image but an important one. A friend of mine, who is an exceptionally talented photographer, once told me that every picture you take and want to share needs to be able to answer the question 'why; why did you take that picture?' This is one of those images that answers that question unequivocally.

To capture the perfect moment of my mother and father in an emotional mebrace, so that when my father dies, which probably won't be very far off, I will still have a visual reminder that however hard things get, love endures.
