Guest JonathanP Posted November 4, 2015 Share #1  Posted November 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just wondered if anyone was aware of any suppliers of 43mm filters (clear or UV) in 0.5mm thread pitch?  I want to source one to use as a protection filter for a W-Nikkor 3.5cn f/1.8, but I believe early Summilux's may have also used the 0.5mm filter thread rather than the standard 43x0.75 used nowadays.  B+W used to have this as an option, but I have been in contact with Schneider HQ and they no longer supply or have stock of 43x0.5 filter rings. I also contacted Heliopan who I read in the past have made step down adapters from 46mm but they no longer offer this service.  I may have to find a machine shop to make me a 46x0.75 to 43x0.5 adapter as the best longer term solution. If anyone has any leads or other solutions I'd be most grateful,  Thanks, Jonathan

a.noctilux Posted November 4, 2015 Share #2  Posted November 4, 2015 Hello,  I have one of those for my old Summilux 50mm, 46 to 43 bought some years ago: http://www.koodinternational.com/stepping-rings/stepping-ring-43-46mm.html  Not specified, ask them if it's in 0.5mm or 0.75 for 43mm  Arnaud
lct Posted November 4, 2015 Share #3  Posted November 4, 2015 You just need a 13206 or YMZOO Leica filter. Hardly cheap though. http://www.ebay.fr/itm/E43-YMZOO-13206-UVa-chrome-f-Leica-26157-7-/281809159655?hash=item419d2285e7:g:8fIAAOSwEetWBFMd  Welcome, dear visitor! mike4321 Posted November 5, 2015 Share #4  Posted November 5, 2015 Jonathan, Several years ago I was also looking for a 43/0.5 UV filter, for my old 50mm Summilux, which has 0.5mm pitch. I found that the readily-available B&W 43 010 UV-Haze filter worked, although the thread pitch is 0.75mm. It screwed all the way down to a hard stop without binding, and goes on and off easily. Maybe I was just lucky. There's the added advantage of being able to use a 43/46 step-up ring with 0.75mm threads on top of the UV. - Mike

menos I M6 Posted November 6, 2015 Share #6 Â Posted November 6, 2015 For the few lenses I have with this now unusual filter thread I have found these solution: Â - use regular current B+W E43 filters and only loosely thread them in (they fit secure enough to not get lost yet do not damage any threads if not over-tightened ) - buy vintage filters like Nikon filters or Walz filters made for Nikon and change the glass (these are by far not as nice as the B+W filters as they are made of aluminum alloy and will not be as smooth to use as the B+W brass filters)
