Paulus Posted April 29, 2016 Author Share #681 Posted April 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I do not know if a new camera will come. People who talked about an event like this months before ( the new one will be special, they told ) suddenly have shut up, some have other jobs entirely. The only thing which seems logical to me is the fact that this year a lot of old knowledge is transformed into " new " cameras. In the past this happened before and then surprise , surprise , a new camera in Septemer. But in times of " Lehmann Brothers debacle " successes in the past will not guaranty a bright future. Advertisement Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Hi Paulus, Take a look here New Leica M in September 2016? The speculations.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Rick Posted April 29, 2016 Share #682 Posted April 29, 2016 I'm sure the new M exists right now and I'll want one. Rick
AlanJW Posted April 29, 2016 Share #683 Posted April 29, 2016 I'm sure the new M exists right now and I'll want one. Rick Jono probably has a beta one already and is thrashing it out.
Paul J Posted April 29, 2016 Share #684 Posted April 29, 2016 Is it really any wonder why someone selling current stock of M 240, 262, M-E and now M-D might say there might not be a new camera come fall/Photokina? It's coming.
Rick Posted April 29, 2016 Share #685 Posted April 29, 2016 Jono probably has a beta one already and is thrashing it out. Nah, he's probably already shooting the 2020 Photokina version! Rick
IkarusJohn Posted April 29, 2016 Share #686 Posted April 29, 2016 The changes might be incremental, but I have no doubt there will be a new M - Typ823. Same form factor, more dots on the LCD, SL quaity EVF and sensor, 24MP, new processor, available in silver and black paint, with a big red Leica dot; then there will be an upgraded M-P version, a Monochrom, followed by a Porsche limited edition, and finally a stripped down version, before the whole thing starts again in about 4 years time with the M(357). I doubt we will see another M-D. Meanwhile, I will drop my digital M cameras in the rubbish as Leica stops being able to fix them, and I will be left with the SL, M-A and a nice collection of Leica glass - very happy. lct Posted April 29, 2016 Share #687 Posted April 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) A slimmer and faster M would be welcome but the idea of a digital rangefinder would interest me as an old RF user. Would be hard to compete with the optical RF though so i don't hold my breath.

You forgot to add that the new M-P (823) will not have a big red dot, just stylish engraving. I doubt that the new EVF will be SL type, more likely, if it is a clip on, it will the latest Olympus EVF.
Rick Posted April 30, 2016 Share #689 Posted April 30, 2016 I read on another forum that the new M has an extensive snap-shot mode that includes a setting called, "Jono's Classic Barnyard Animals" mode. It is supposed to be really excellent for shooting rooster bums. Really. Rick

Rick Posted April 30, 2016 Share #691 Posted April 30, 2016 Never mind the out-of-focus images that metadata shows as "Did not visit Rick for glasses." Yes, that is the "Mr. McGoo Wrong Way Diopter" snapshot mode. Already seems to be really popular around here. RickMcGoo
Jennifer Posted April 30, 2016 Share #692 Posted April 30, 2016 Where did you get this info if i may ask? I would like to know the source of the information that they will not do something at Photokina 16. IMHO this would be out of character for Leica. I'd be very surprised if there was no replacement for the M240 in September. Naturally, I can't possibly divulge my source(s) , but I've been led to believe that there'll be no M240 replacement at Photokina 16. Of course, that's not to say there won't be something else, my "mole" is silent on that.

Morry Posted April 30, 2016 Share #695 Posted April 30, 2016 May be a lens interchangeable Q will come to interrupt Sony alpha ? Then it makes sense we will not see new M for a while... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lct Posted April 30, 2016 Share #696 Posted April 30, 2016 Haha yes it would be killed immediately. I will disclose a trade secret here, but don't repeat it please: The name of the next Q with interchangeable lenses will begin by an "M" .
Peter H Posted April 30, 2016 Share #697 Posted April 30, 2016 I was talking to my very well connected and reliable dealer about the SL. He said that whilst it's lenses are too big to allow the camera to be a real hit, it's a good body for M lenses. I said I was happy with my M240 and would wait to compare the SL with the new M later this year and his very words were "Yes, it's going to be nice". I asked for details but he wouldn't say more, but he did give me a very knowing and rather coquettish grin! Of course, he might just be a tease! I will disclose a trade secret here, but don't repeat it please: The name of the next Q with interchangeable lenses will begin by an "M" . I think Leica will keep the M strictly within classy rangefinder style, thus if anything like Q with interchangeable lens will come out that ought to be distinguished as another series. This must be the best move for Leica because then they can attract Sony users, without letting down fellow M users (including myself of course !) lct Posted April 30, 2016 Share #700 Posted April 30, 2016 At the price of the M's death... There are excellent Kolari mod A7's for you (and me) and there is the SL of course. You will see a Q with interchangeable lenses when pigs can fly... but i may be wrong... as usual .
