Soden Posted November 15, 2015 Share #261 Posted November 15, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I wanted the above, I would have bought a different camera long ago. The power of the M is that all these things are not in the viewfinder IMHO. I realise that being happy with a camera for almost 20 years has nothing to do with " geek " things but with reliability. Make the digital M a tiny bit more reliable and I would be a happy costumer. In anology with a bicylce: You can make it more electronic and even so that it drives you without pedalling, but it's just not my choise. Just give me a reliable " city bike " on which I can transport loads of groceries without problems: Strong and reliant and weatherproof without to much servicing. I can't disagree with you. I have doubts about the implementation. The only reason I moved from the M9 to the M240 was the lack of reliability in the M9. However what I reported is from a Leica patent. When and how it's utilized is any bodies guess, but we may see some of it in the next M. Whether I will be a customer for it or not... That's a different question. Lovely, clever things! I'm with you: I like using the M-P when I tire of readouts and flashing notifications, etc. When I'm looking through the viewfinder, I am perfectly content that I know what aperture I set it to and the minimal information it presents—it's enough. Different stroke for different folks. :-)

LocalHero1953 Posted November 15, 2015 Share #265 Posted November 15, 2015 It's a classical Dutch bicycle. Cambridge is the most cycle-aware place in the UK, with any amount of choice of cycles. Yet all my Dutch friends prefer to import their bikes from Holland!
kkonkkrete Posted November 16, 2015 Share #266 Posted November 16, 2015 So what about this? "M Typ 262": http://lavidaleica.com Could it be sooner than expected?

FrozenInTime Posted November 16, 2015 Share #268 Posted November 16, 2015 So what about this? "M Typ 262": Time will tell ; perhaps a production version of the M 60, the minimalist M, as opposed to M.240 platform upgrade ?

Monochrome Posted November 17, 2015 Share #270 Posted November 17, 2015 So a patent is applied for the M262. Leicarumors suggests it might be for Wifi capability. Hmm, so much for a "minimalist" approach to the M line now that the SL is out... I still hope for a "basics only" M model. Perhaps Leica can split the M line into two different models: a "can-do-it-all" model for the boutique buyers, who want a camera that does the same as their Iphone, but with an "i-spent-a-lot-on-this" air to it. And a basic model that only takes photo's, has no liveview, no EVF connector, no GPS, Wifi or fancy LCD. Something in between the M6 and a M60 for the longtime Leica shooters who really just want a digital rangefinder. (funny that Volvo used to have a 240, 246 and 262 model as well)
IkarusJohn Posted November 17, 2015 Share #271 Posted November 17, 2015 When the M Edition 60 was released, there were quite a few requests for a production version, without the white gloves. having used mine for almost a year, the only thing I would want is a remote shutter release - cable, WiFi or other, I don't mind. jaapv Posted November 17, 2015 Share #272 Posted November 17, 2015 Actually I would say such a stripped model would be for buyers who put philosophy over usability.Probably too small a group to warrant a regular production model. Btw, Volvo 246, are you sure you don't mean 264?

Please forgive an elderly chap who just got out of bed on the wrong side, but I'm growing impatient over so much condescendence over a set of preferences for a mere tool. jaapv Posted November 17, 2015 Share #274 Posted November 17, 2015 It also confirms certain circles outside Leica in their perception of the Leica user.

satijntje Posted November 17, 2015 Share #276 Posted November 17, 2015 When the M Edition 60 was released, there were quite a few requests for a production version, without the white gloves. having used mine for almost a year, the only thing I would want is a remote shutter release - cable, WiFi or other, I don't mind. The M60 is still available in several shops (new of course). Only 600 pieces were made, so one might conclude that the product was not a success! pgk Posted November 17, 2015 Share #279 Posted November 17, 2015 Actually I would say such a stripped model would be for buyers who put philosophy over usability.Probably too small a group to warrant a regular production model. On this I think that you are very wrong. The M RF's fundamental attraction is its usability and simplicity. If Leica pursue a 'bloating' philosophy, I for one will continue to use older models until the time comes when I am forced to look elsewhere. And I very much doubt that I am in the minority as there are clearly many here who feel the same. I see no reason for not having two parallel model line - the Ms and the MB - which can run together, especially as one would merely require upgraded sensors and associated electronics and little else it terms of redesign and R&D. Paulus Posted November 17, 2015 Author Share #280 Posted November 17, 2015 Talking of condescension ... I think it's the non Estate version: https://www.google.nl/search?q=volvo+246+gl&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CCAQsARqFQoTCPjuzPCCl8kCFYN7DgodHjUCjw&biw=1280&bih=695 I'm driving a Volvo 240/245 Estate. Our 245 stranded in France this summer. Hauled by the ANWB to Holland. The 240 camera was fine the whole trip. but I shurely hope the M240 will also last for 36 years!
