algrove Posted October 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The only question is what lenses could be used that are AF. The T's could work. Then with adapters, M, R and S lenses could work as well. A small and light weight FF AF Leica is what I am after. Someday my M's will outlive my eyes and my muscles will not be what they used to be so a heavy SL (heavier than an M) will not be the answer. Enter the ILC AF Q-like camera. Oh yes. This could be very good if it to comes to pass in a few years.
Advertisement Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hi algrove, Take a look here Who wants an Interchangeable Lens AF Q camera?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mjh Posted October 22, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2015 I suppose four camera systems are enough. The Q is a compact camera, not a system camera.

I agree with you in general, although I do not mind the size of the SL body as much as I do the size/price of the S/SL lenses considering their variable aperture (zooms). Unlike many others here, I would *love* to have the SL's video capabilities in Q size/format, but I guess we have to wait little bit longer for that. I have 5DMkIII with full set of Canon L lenses which I was ready to sell and go full Leica, but now not so sure...
beauport Posted October 22, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2015 I suppose four camera systems are enough. The Q is a compact camera, not a system camera. Agree. One of the aspects on why I bought the the Q is that it didn't have an interchangeable lens. I have a full system camera and wanted something simple, light and with good IQ and not a second system. Mr.Q Posted October 22, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2015 I'd love a Leica version of the Sony A7's

dangorange Posted October 22, 2015 Share #8 Posted October 22, 2015 I think the bottom line for me is, like others said, I like the fixed lens which helps the compactness and perhaps most of all, the price. Don't get me wrong, if I could have this exact Q, exact lens, for the same price, except the 28mm was removable, of course I would prefer that. But I have a feeling that this would be a $6500 - 7500 camera/lens combo. Maybe more?
stefanusj Posted October 22, 2015 Share #9 Posted October 22, 2015 my wish is really simple... Leica Q with 50mm Summilux. Thats it...
adam80 Posted October 22, 2015 Share #10 Posted October 22, 2015 my wish is really simple... Leica Q with 50mm Summilux. Thats it...Same here..I'd keep the 28 and add the 50. Perfect
mjh Posted October 22, 2015 Share #11 Posted October 22, 2015 Wow. Everyone seems to be missing the picture. The SL is the interchangeable lens Q. That is not the way I would put it but in any case, the SL is as close to being an interchangeable lens Q as it will ever get.
CharlesL Posted October 23, 2015 Share #12 Posted October 23, 2015 We want: 1. Full frame 2. Outstanding EVF 3. Lens mount. 4. Auto focus 5. Compact "brick". Reviewer Jono Slack argues, “It isn’t really feasible to produce equally small [as manual focus rangefinder lenses] high quality auto-focus lenses with built in motors (especially zoom and telephoto lenses), and if you can’t produce small lenses, then it’s not really relevant to produce small bodies.”http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/2015/10/leica-sl-test-jono/In other words, no camera can do all five things. Or could a camera do them within a restricted range of focal lengths, perhaps 28 to 75 mm? I would take such a camera.
algrove Posted October 23, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted October 23, 2015 Wow. Everyone seems to be missing the picture. The SL is the interchangeable lens Q. At a kilo before adding any lens, I do not consider it the IL Q.

So which one will be the first to give you all 5?
Jeffry Abt Posted October 23, 2015 Share #15 Posted October 23, 2015 I do not want a interchangeable lens Q. I think it is a fine camera concept as it is.
sblitz Posted October 23, 2015 Share #16 Posted October 23, 2015 the Q will eventually go stale in the marketplace, so i suspect the next Q will have a different focal length, perhaps a 50 ..... and move along like the X, with a zoom on it at point as well ...... and an improved sensor -- not because the current one isn't great, it is, but because technology advances. earleygallery Posted October 23, 2015 Share #17 Posted October 23, 2015 The Q is an integrated design. You can just pull the lens off and stick a bayonet mount in the hole. Another Q type camera with a 35mm lens would be more interesting to me, but if you want extra lenses, FF, and an EVF, then the SL is the Leica solution for you. davidislip Posted October 23, 2015 Share #19 Posted October 23, 2015 I would like two Q bodies with M mount and double card slots. Forget the autofocus and waste of space video.
LocalHero1953 Posted October 23, 2015 Share #20 Posted October 23, 2015 The Q is an integrated design. You can [can't] just pull the lens off and stick a bayonet mount in the hole. Interesting. Why not? (serious question). Well, perhaps not just as described, but why is the Q compact but the SL isn't?
