Who wants an Interchangeable Lens AF Q camera?

The only question is what lenses could be used that are AF. The T's could work. Then with adapters, M, R and S lenses could work as well.

A small and light weight FF AF Leica is what I am after. Someday my M's will outlive my eyes and my muscles will not be what they used to be so a heavy SL (heavier than an M) will not be the answer.

Enter the ILC AF Q-like camera. Oh yes. This could be very good if it to comes to pass in a few years.

I agree with you in general, although I do not mind the size of the SL body as much as I do the size/price of the S/SL lenses considering their variable aperture (zooms). Unlike many others here, I would *love* to have the SL's video capabilities in Q size/format, but I guess we have to wait little bit longer for that. I have 5DMkIII with full set of Canon L lenses which I was ready to sell and go full Leica, but now not so sure...

I suppose four camera systems are enough. The Q is a compact camera, not a system camera.

Agree.  One of the aspects on why I bought the the Q is that it didn't have an interchangeable lens.  I have a full system camera and wanted something simple, light and with good IQ and not a second system.

You and I both got that. And now?

I think the bottom line for me is, like others said, I like the fixed lens which helps the compactness and perhaps most of all, the price.

Don't get me wrong, if I could have this exact Q, exact lens, for the same price, except the 28mm was removable, of course I would prefer that. But I have a feeling that this would be a $6500 - 7500 camera/lens combo. Maybe more?

Wow. Everyone seems to be missing the picture. The SL is the interchangeable lens Q.

That is not the way I would put it but in any case, the SL is as close to being an interchangeable lens Q as it will ever get.

We want: 1. Full frame 2. Outstanding EVF 3. Lens mount. 4. Auto focus 5. Compact "brick". Reviewer Jono Slack argues, “It isn’t really feasible to produce equally small [as manual focus rangefinder lenses] high quality auto-focus lenses with built in motors (especially zoom and telephoto lenses), and if you can’t produce small lenses, then it’s not really relevant to produce small bodies.”

In other words, no camera can do all five things. Or could a camera do them within a restricted range of focal lengths, perhaps 28 to 75 mm? I would take such a camera.

Well, let's see. The Q has all, but #3 and the A7R2 has all but #2. So which one will be the first to give you all 5?

the Q will eventually go stale in the marketplace, so i suspect the next Q will have a different focal length, perhaps a 50 ..... and move along like the X, with a zoom on it at point as well ...... and an improved sensor -- not because the current one isn't great, it is, but because technology advances.

The Q is an integrated design. You can just pull the lens off and stick a bayonet mount in the hole.

Another Q type camera with a 35mm lens would be more interesting to me, but if you want extra lenses, FF, and an EVF, then the SL is the Leica solution for you.

Perhaps do you mean YOU CAN'T PULL THE LENS OFF ....
