Lovely photo. Limited DOF really well works here.

Ephemeral lake and Aberdeen Angus cows and calves. On the Monaro high plains west of Cooma, NSW.

May I make some constructive criticism here? If you darkened the sky in PP I think it's a bit heavy and needs a more gentle graduation. If you didn't just ignore me!

Very lonely looking place, great sky!

Mark, thank you so much for your nice comments and constructive criticism, always very much appreciated, and it's really good to know that you take the time to look so closely at my images.

I find it interesting that you are not quite sure if I've applied PP to the sky in the black cattle shot....so I'm going to leave you guessing, we do have very dark blue 'big skies' out here in the bush.

Composition doesn't get more classical than that curving road Dee! Looking at the camera and lens that you used, I'm not surprised that it is bitingly sharp from to back. My eye gets pulled a little by the bitumen surface defect in the white line, low centre.

This poster at least is still looking, but I'm editing fashion, getting ready for four new shoots in next fortnight and learning how to tether my Typ 007 plus working through photography course material currently!

Technically superb of course. Dare I say that I wish for the colour tones in the water and rock surface for this one. Yes I know that might be a bit tricky with the MM  :p

Reality sucks ;-)

That is one maybe one of those unanswerable landscaping conundrums right there. In this one I see a composition of shapes and lines  with lots of texture detail more than a beautiful scene, if that makes sense?

Just attempting a little critiquing. Ask ten photogs though and you will likely get 12 opinions.

Yep...I don't notice the bitumen flaws.  But love the squiggly bit at the end of the road. I see your point tho' Geoff.  Lots of little pictures within the global image. And the remnant snow.

Talking of pictures within pictures...left middle horizon, with a tele would be an image from same perspective, the rocks and trees behind...a 135mm lens or more.

Beaut deep depth of field, a sunny day.

I see the ripples Dee; a windy day.  Is that part of our great mountain, or just nearby?

Hasn't the weather been stinking..glary and hot, just plain nasty and not suitable for venturing out.

All best, to all, cheers  Dave S

Yes holidays, hadn't seen my children for a long time. We all had a ball.

Also posting elsewhere...I like to support Pete's Monthly comp. And other threads too.

Geoff,

I'm so chuffed that you took the time to inspect this image so thoroughly, that's a real compliment, particularly as you obviously have so much else on your plate right now.

I did (and do) see the little breaks in the bitumen, particularly the one closest to the camera (as Mark observed; reality bites).....but then my eyes are drawn up the white lines to the whiteness of the new clouds forming and blowing away

at the top of the Pass and I forgive the dimple in the road.....but really, thank you for looking and critiquing!

Hi Dave,

It sounds as though you have had wonderful holidays, good on you! Thanks for taking the time to look, comment and post!

The weather .....this summer has been truly weird; ranging from heat wave to freezing with nothing in between. And the light!....not at all conducive to the pursuit of photography.

The name of that pristine little waterway is Spencer's Creek, it crosses the road just before the final climb up to Charlotte Pass...and, as you've deduced, that day was windy.

Similar here in Sydney but probably not quite as extreme as down there.

The light for photography here has also generally been bad (a bad photographer always blames his light  :D).

My only excuse is that I have made the leap to a Capture One catalogue and have been spending my free time setting that up, as well as trying to actually start key wording.

We actually got out yesterday, so i took some shots at last.

Just back from my holidays up in Northern NSW, waiting to finish the current roll before sending it all off to see what I got.

Lovely shot of my absolute favourite place I've made it to (in 12 years so far) in Australia, hoppyman.

Many of my landscape shots are not with an M body (mainly a7r/R-mount lenses), will have to put that right.

This one is Little Bay, Sydney with MM/28 Cron.

The painting sculpture is in recognition of the Christo and Jeanne-Claude 'Wrapped Coast' 1969 project, something I'd never heard of until I paid more attention to the sculpture.
