I sold all my huge, heavy DSLR stuff to fund the Q and, as yet, there's still no sign of my order arriving. I'm half-considering buying a Fuji XT1 + 56 1.2 partly so that I actually have a camera and partly so that it would likely be a good companion to the Q when it does eventually arrive. Is this bonkers, though, and would I regret shelling out for the Fuji as soon as the Q comes in? And is this one of those questions that no-one can really answer for me? It'd be interesting to know whether people on the forum have or are planning on having JUST the Q, or envisage the Q as one of a pair of cameras. katsanes Posted October 15, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2015 I sold my X-T1, 56mm, 23mm and 55-140 to fund my Q. I also have an x100s for the record. That said, the X-T1 is excellent, and would be my choice to have kept it as a companion to the Q simply for the interchangeable lenses. For me, I will miss having reach, but that's about it! fastcar888 Posted October 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 15, 2015 I have a Nikon 800e and a Nikon 7000 with an 85 1.4G, and a 24 1.4G. The 800e is terrific, but it a heavy beast with lenses. Also, I have a micro-four thirds Olympus with a bunch of prime lenses. It is a pretty good camera, for what it is. You may want to consider renting a camera, rather than purchasing until the Q arrived. I would not spend money for a camera that has a high likelihood of collecting dust once the Q arrived. Will most likely use the Q everyday, but kept my Nikon FX camera along with 2 lenses for portrait and a 35mm. The 35mm might go soon, as I am not using it anymore, but I think the X-T1 and 56mm will stay. Having just the Q is a bit too limiting and if you also like portraits or people photography in general the X-T1+56mm is hard to beat. My suggestion while waiting for the Q is to get the X-T1, the 56mm and the 18mm to cover the wide side. The 18mm can be easily found used, cheap, and it is not as bad as some say. When the Q arrives you can resell it with no financial loss if you buy it used. Otherwise, the 14mm is an excellent wide angle that you might want to keep even after you get the Q. I never understood having a spare camera, buying something just to depreciate in the cupboard. Big T Posted October 16, 2015 Share #12 Posted October 16, 2015 I come from the Fuji camp (X100 & the XT1 which I still have). Loving the Leica Q and it is now my main camera. The XT1 with the 27mm f2.8 is my backup camera when I travel. It fits into the same camera bag as the Q so works well. I'm keeping the X100 as I just still love this camera and the pics it takes. The Fuji's are awesome cameras but the Q is just that one step up in resolution and that "Leica look". Leica Q all the way for me now. PS: I have no interest in the new Sony RX1R II. The X-T1 is the best camera i ever had in my hands. Fuji does it just right! Honestly I sold my X100s to replace it by the Q and really I miss the little Fuji.... Pixels don't matter! Tempting as it is to go out an get the Fuji kit today, I suppose I'd better let the head rule for now, wait for the Q and then see if it needs to be supplemented. I do take a fair few portraits, so the day will probably come.... As for availability, I'm in Ireland where there are growing waiting lists and no supply at all. That's NONE.
