Schrödinger's cat Posted September 28, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a 50mm f2 Summicron with a loose built in hood, giant front focus, overly light aperture click stops, and a rough spot focusing Sent it to Mr. Goldberg on Sept 15 and got it back on Sept 25. CLA and repair all the mentioned issues. $140 and I'm very pleased with the service. Should you be interested, he advised that an M240 rangefinder calibration was also about $140 and would take about two weeks.
Advertisement Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Hi Schrödinger's cat, Take a look here DAG Camera Repair. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rirakuma Posted September 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2015 Also had my mp serviced by don and it's working flawlessly. my experience with don has been far better than dealing with the local repairer camera clinic. Even with our low currency exchange it's surprisingly cheaper too. Would highly recommend don for your beloved leicas

Jeff S Posted October 5, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) He fixed the 'sticky' focus on my 50 Summilux ASPH when Leica could not, and very inexpensively... http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/208538-dag-does-what-leica-could-not/ Jeff
Timmyjoe Posted October 5, 2015 Share #8 Posted October 5, 2015 Don's great, he's done a couple M3's and an M6TTL, plus two lenses for me over the years, top notch work. Best, -Tim
ho_co Posted October 7, 2015 Share #9 Posted October 7, 2015 Hi Howard. Where you been hiding? Greetings, Rick! Been doing less photography of late and shutting up more on the forum. Thanks for the hello. Hope things are going well with you!
Sam Posted October 9, 2015 Share #10 Posted October 9, 2015 Don tweaked a lens of mine and I have nothing but good things to say of his service.
algrove Posted October 11, 2015 Share #11 Posted October 11, 2015 7 lenses and counting. No issues.
james.liam Posted October 11, 2015 Share #12 Posted October 11, 2015 Anyone have a comment on Sherry Krauter for lens work? She's a master of repairing M film cameras but wonder whether she is the best for M lenses used on digital.
hiepphotog Posted October 11, 2015 Share #13 Posted October 11, 2015 Don seems to be less hassle to deal with than Sherry, have to call her at certain time, can be less approachable at time.... I guess it's kinda slow nowadays in Leica land, but Don's turn around time is very quick, a little more than a week for me.

ola.fiske Posted October 12, 2015 Share #15 Posted October 12, 2015 She did a great job on my dual range summicron and type1 50 lux
james.liam Posted October 16, 2015 Share #16 Posted October 16, 2015 The lenses I have to send out are the 50 Rigid and 35 Summicron 8-element, but primarily for use on digital. Is DAG a better place to sent it for this or will Sherry's work be equally as good?
LeicaFan1 Posted October 16, 2015 Share #17 Posted October 16, 2015 Sherry did a great job replacing the leatherette on my M3 and CLA's on the M3 and a M6. Quick turnaround and great service.
rirakuma Posted October 16, 2015 Share #18 Posted October 16, 2015 I don't think you can go wrong with either. I sent an inquiry to both, don replied and sherry didn't (I know both people are busy). I eventually needed my mp to be serviced so my business went to don.
Antonio Russell Posted October 16, 2015 Share #19 Posted October 16, 2015 There was a horrendous story about DAGs handling of an M5 repair over on RFF last year... He wont be getting my business!
Sully Posted October 16, 2015 Share #20 Posted October 16, 2015 I've sent cameras and lenses to Don for over 35 years. He is the best. He just finished repairing a MOOLY-C winder for me. This is not easy. It took a few months, but that's just fine because very few people on the planet can even do this at all. When I needed a camera repaired for professional work, I would tell him I needed it back quickly for a job which meant a flight to somewhere. If he knew I needed it for a job, he would almost always get it back to me on time. But if I sent him a collector piece (MOOLY-C), then I would tell him to just take his time and do it when he felt like it. Don't send him a ragged out IIIb and say you need it for a job next week. Over the years, I have always told Don the truth about what I am sending in for work. I would make Don an American National Treasure like Japan does for their super-skilled artists. Ciao, Sully
