Found an amazing deal on eBay, amazing price with around 2000 actuation. It arrived mint, all the bundle included and also 2 months of warranty left...exciting!

Just put the lens on and....snap.....Shutter Error  <_< format the card, reset the camera...restart...and the camera works with no problem. Ok I thought it was just a little thing.
Then the day after same thing....over and over again...basically as soon I switch on the camera I get the Shutter Error.

One learns the hard way......beware eBay! Caveat venditor..

Ebay do not make cameras, Ebay didn't go wrong, a Leica went wrong, so shouldn't it be 'beware Leica' if you want to gloat by saying 'I told you so'?

I am well aware of the inconvenience it can occur when you buy online...but in all honest I really wanted to get the Monochrom and my money was short. No chance for me to get it from a shop...

I just hope to get it sorted as soon as possible and enjoy the camera properly, meanwhile yeah I will try to get it loaned from the shop if I need it for work. And thanks for the advice I will definitely sent a mail at some point just to touch base with the repair service.

The OP will do well if he sees the camera again this year.

Don't make him even more miserable than he already is ....... :o

Most of the stuff I have sent in has been turned around in a few weeks..

If it's obvious what the problem is and they have the spare parts then it should be back without undue delay ..... and Leica are usually amenable to a bit of persuasion if they drag their heels ....

Would it be better for me to get in touch via phone or emails? Never had to deal with Wetzlar so far...

I've recently had my MM (1)'s sensor replaced by getting in touch with them directly then sending it in to Wetzlar myself.

Great service, pleasant dealing with them, ( by email ), and the camera was returned before I expected it.

Just start a polite dialogue with customer service and you should be fine......I hope you'll end up as happy as I've been with them.

My Monochrom came back yesterday from its trip to Wetzlar...what an outstanding service they do. They are really amazing on the phone, I never experienced any queue wait and my questions were answered really quickly on the go. The camera came back fixed and all clean as well as calibration etc etc. it looks and feels like brand new. It did take a while and the wait was though sometime....but the camera is finally back and I can finally enjoy shooting with it :D

Very good to read that after the heartbreak of a deal that seemed to go sour, Leica took good care of the camera and you. Now get out there shooting, enjoying it, and don't forget to post some photos! :-)

My experience with Leica NJ and Weztlar is if they have the parts, they are willing to work with the customer to resolve the issues in a reasonable manor. My experience in the rest of the Leica World is not so great. Both NJ and Weztlar warrantee the entire camera after service. Other Leica service centers in like China only warrantee the service they perform, and only for 90 days. So check the documentation you received from Leica, you may find a nice extension to your warrantee. And do get extra batteries...

Congrats!!!

If it needs anything other than a sensor replacement they (Leica) are pretty quick.  Sensors for CCD Monochroms are back-ordered though.
