Herr Barnack Posted September 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nice case, but I would have to put black electrical tape over the Leica logo: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/894831-REG/leica_16010_case_s.html Or maybe I would just get an almost identical Pelican case for about 1/4 the asking price... The insert is what makes it so good and if you buy Pelicase you won't get that, only option is placeable foam,Peli are not the OEM of this case ,I believe HPRC make it and it weighs 14lbs. Bill W Posted September 3, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2015 Nice case but not something I would ever need unless I were traveling by plane.
Herr Barnack Posted September 3, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted September 3, 2015 Looking at the HPRC and B&H websites, these do look like better designed cases than Pelican. I cannot figure out what the foam used in the pre-cut insert of the #16010 cas is, though. The HPRC website offers several custom options for case interior padding, which is great; it's good to have options. This case looks like it would be a good case for an M system: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/514204-REG/HPRC_HPRC2550WFBLACK_AMRE_2550WF_Hard_Case.html
erlingmm Posted September 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 3, 2015 Great case, especially for flights and car travel (you can have the whole kit in the luggage, stop and just take out what you need) , have used it extensively. The larger room on lower right side can take an M with lens, too.
RVB Posted September 3, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great case, especially for flights and car travel (you can have the whole kit in the luggage, stop and just take out what you need) , have used it extensively. The larger room on lower right side can take an M with lens, too. I just wish Leica would make a second insert which could hold another body and the 24mm,45mm and Zoom and even the TS,then two cases could hold everything!! John McMaster Posted September 3, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 3, 2015 The 45mm fits in the normal case, but a new one for 24, zoom, TS and a second body would be good. I recently sent one of these cases from NZ to Charles de Gaulle as unattended baggage. You can imagine my trepidation as I left my S2-P plus grip, 35, 45CS, 70, 120, 180, ELPRO, pro charger etc behind me in the freight office! I did block out the Leica logo just in case, happily everything arrived safe and sound. john

I would be sweating it.. I can just imagine your relief that it arrived safely. Rob
John McMaster Posted September 4, 2015 Share #10 Posted September 4, 2015 You can fit 2 out of 30, 35 or 45. My case takes both 35 and 45 and I do not have the 30. john

I bought one recently but I'm waiting on the new body to try it out,I sold my 006 a while ago. Rob

Muscardino Posted September 6, 2015 Share #14 Posted September 6, 2015 Apparently the weight is classified information. Luckily, they are lavish colleagues which inform us about this basic aspect of the equipment available. Thanks.
billhart Posted February 26, 2016 Share #15 Posted February 26, 2016 Will the 16010 case hold a 24 MM and 30-90 MM in the original insert?
siddhaarta Posted February 26, 2016 Share #16 Posted February 26, 2016 14 lbs. empty. Isn't that nearly the allowed weight limit with most carriers? Oh sorry, I forgot that Leica S owners travel first class ….

Oh sorry, I forgot that Leica S owners travel first class …. Private jet ... or Toyota truck in my experience .... Gave up flying as a hobby 25 years ago so the S looks kinda cheap as a substitute. John McMaster Posted February 28, 2016 Share #20 Posted February 28, 2016 You have to see/use the Leica case to believe how snugly camera kit can be held ;-) There is no chance of anything moving within the case... john
