I took two identical images today, one with the 'correct' lens, the camera selected on auto and then again on manual mode, with the actual correct lens. Auto selection can only work with a coded lens, that's the point of having the codes. If you don't have a coded lens then you have to use manual selection of course. Your original post suggested that you had used a coded lens and compared images - which would be rather bizarre if they were different and probably point to a faulty camera, so you're lucky that wasn't the case !
