How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “c

I got hand on a used HC300mm for a reasonable cost. It's not too big/heavy, it's very sharp, and it seems to focus both fast and accurate.

The crop shows pixel details on the mountain top, 3.8 km away (without noise reduction applied).

Took out my vintage S2 for a quick visit to Yosemite over the weekend.  The weather cooperated and the camera did not disappoint.  Classic Tunnel View, ISO 160, 45 Elmarit CS 1/60 @f8 - Lee .9 hard grad ND filter

On a related subject, have you seen the new film about Alex Honold’s beyond fathomable historic solo of El Cap? It’s not released until later this  month here in Europe but I believe it’s put stateside.
