Bill W Posted July 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica Miami has lowered the price for this set to $13,295. The dates for this special deal have been extended to 8/31/2015. They indicate it is the exchange rate being passed along as an incentive. I am guessing this is only a Leica USA deal but I cannot find any other dealers in the US that are advertising this. B & H mentions an additional discount but if you put the item in your cart there is no other discount below the bundle price of $15,995. Has anyone ordered the S on this deal? I am close to doing it myself.
Advertisement Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Hi Bill W, Take a look here Question about the S Type 006 & 70 S Set . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeff S Posted July 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2015 The Miami Store will also let you demo a system for a week or so, and roll the 'rental' price into a subsequent purchase. Jeff
dritz Posted July 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 17, 2015 Is there any difference between the S (006) and the S-E other than the composition of the top plate? I'm thinking of upgrading my S2 with the S-E for the extra 1.5 stops of performance.

I'm thinking of upgrading my S2 with the S-E for the extra 1.5 stops of performance. Differences seem limited to 1 year versus 3 year warranty, and the inclusion of a couple extra cables with the S. But no functional or performance difference that I can note.

Warranties also differ in ways beyond duration….camera exchange/loaner, etc. Jeff
Jeff S Posted July 21, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 21, 2015 Looks like the Miami store has bumped package price up to $15,995. Methinks maybe Leica got wind and perhaps wasn't too pleased. Jeff

Methinks maybe Leica got wind and perhaps wasn't too pleased. Jeff I saw that as well. Not sure what the deal is. I have emailed them and asked if the $13,295 is still a good price for the S006 and 70S. I am thinking that Leica was not happy with their advertised price even if it was a good price. I have not found another dealer that gave that pricing. If Leica really wants to move out the old S bodies, they need to let their dealers just compete. If the deal is off, I am not interested. If Leica really wants to move out the old S bodies, they need to let their dealers just compete. If the deal is off, I am not interested. Could be that Leica knew about the price (as they should), but hoped it would stay under the radar. After it was discussed here, and then published on the Rumors site, it was retracted. The $13,295 price refers to the S-E Typ006 and 70 with one year warranty, not the 'standard' S006 and 70 with the 3 year protection plan (now $15,995). Compared to initial retail prices, both of these are really good deals, just not as good as they were. You might try calling the store to see what they'll do….just don't write about here if it's good news. Jeff
Bill W Posted July 22, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted July 22, 2015 I was told that there are no 70S lens available so any package bundle would need to be with another lens at this time. It looks like I will not be doing the S thing. I asked about just the S006 and it is the retail price less the 12% exchange rate discount.
Jeff S Posted July 22, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 22, 2015 If price is the driving factor, you don't need it anyway. Jeff

Jeff S Posted July 22, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 22, 2015 You could say that about all of my M kit though. You bought your whole M kit because of the great prices? That's unusual. Jeff
