julianf73 Posted July 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) So this was bound to happen sooner or later, and now I don't know how to fix it: I had the wrong lens profile set, now i downloaded 200+ dng's into Lightroom, and noticed that they are all marked as 50mm Summicron, when they were actually taken with the 21mm Super-Elmar. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this exif data? I am looking at the documentation for exiftool, and I'm left scratching my head. Thanks a bunch in advance!! w44neg Posted July 13, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2015 Can't you just change the lens profile to the 21mm lens in Lightroom? Under Lens Corrections.
julianf73 Posted July 13, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted July 13, 2015 Yes, but also when doing a search within Lightroom by lens focal length, the images still show up under the wrong lens.
Luke_Miller Posted July 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 15, 2015 Happens to me all the time. I have one lens that is not 6-bit coded and invariably forget to manually select it. I use Lens Tagger to correct the EXIF http://www.essl.de/wp/software/lenstagger-lightroom-plugin/ Once the EXIF in the images is corrected Lightroom must re-load the image metadata to show the change. That will also reset any edits to the image so do that first.
julianf73 Posted July 17, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted July 17, 2015 Thanks Luke, I tried Lens Tagger and it seems like it did the job! However, it also looks like it now saved xmp files next to my dng's. I would like to keep it like I had it before, when Lightroom wrote all the info within the dng. Do you know if there's a way to have Lens Tagger correct directly into the DNG? Thanks again

Just got back from vacation so late in responding. I don't get an XMP file when I use Lens Tagger, but I don't have the latest version. I note that the latest version has the option to write the EXIF data to an XMP sidecar file. Perhaps that option is checked in your installation.
