Nick De Marco Posted June 27, 2015 Share #1  Posted June 27, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) As I mentioned on another thread in this forum ('Noctilux price drop') whilst selling my Noctilux f1 I picked up a lovely mint used 50mm Summilux f1.4 ASPH. I'm so glad I did. Wonderful lens, and suits me perfectly on the M.  I have just posted a blog featuring the first of my photos taken with this lens, and a little review. You can take a look here: http://rangefinderchronicles.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/adventures-with-50mm-summilux-part-1.html  And here are a few from the blog  Nick     Welcome, dear visitor! colint544 Posted June 27, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted June 27, 2015 Nice blog post, and photos. It's a superb lens. I did exactly the same as you - sold an F1 Noctilux, and got a 50 Summilux ASPH. No regrets.

Carduelis Posted June 28, 2015 Share #6 Â Posted June 28, 2015 I think that the 50 mm ASPH Summilux is a very fine lens with wonderful rendering and a nice balance of sharpness and quality of bokeh. Â Out of the five Leica lenses I own, it is the pick of the crop. I sold a 50 Summicron M to fund it after a few issues with flare; never desired the much heavier Noctilux and considered that f1.4 was fast enough. run23 Posted June 29, 2015 Share #7  Posted June 29, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wonderful write-up. The Summilux is my favorite lens and is pretty much glued to my M9.
jcraf Posted June 29, 2015 Share #8  Posted June 29, 2015 It's my fave on any Leica body, from my M240P to my M2. A brilliant optic in every which way, and much more wieldy than the Noctiluxes, and faster than the APO 50 (and how much better is the latter, in real world terms?)  A 'cold, dead fingers' lens!
