Leica Q Day Bag

Well, I went to check out this bag at my local dealer in Vienna...

the bag itself is quite nice, obviously well made and not too girly. As the pictures suggest, it fits an iPad, some Smartphone, has a zipped pocket for a wallet and takes the Q in a rather interesting way.

While the Q will fit nicely, it will not fit with the grip and I don't think it will fit with the protector. However, the real issues is: the Q will not fit with the lens hood attached.

You can still close the bag's flap somehow, but there is a visible and disturbing 1-2cm gap.

I wanted to share this - perhaps it saves you a trip to town

So close, yet so far... if they had made the tablet slot into a full compartment as well, it would probably be a bit more future-proof.  I wonder if I could commission a custom bag to be built for roughly the same amount of money.

WOW, this is a serious oversight. How do you possibly make such a mistake?

No mistake but a deliberate choice on Leica’s part. A bulge gets impractical if it is too large.

As they say 'Impeccable design' and 'holds everything you need' Personally I'll stick with my Billingham 'Hadley small' and old and battered 'Hadley Pro' when I need to carry a bit more.

Basically I'm afraid it is just a bag for the 'Fashionistas' and not of any real practical use unless you really need an enormous black red dot

  • 2 weeks later...

The gap is no problem!

Since the Lens is fixed, no dust can reach the sensor!

I don't think you get the point. If you are going to buy the day bag, I suggest you take a look at this before you hand over the credit card... You'll see what I mean.
