bernie.lcf Posted June 18, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I went to check out this bag at my local dealer in Vienna... the bag itself is quite nice, obviously well made and not too girly. As the pictures suggest, it fits an iPad, some Smartphone, has a zipped pocket for a wallet and takes the Q in a rather interesting way. While the Q will fit nicely, it will not fit with the grip and I don't think it will fit with the protector. However, the real issues is: the Q will not fit with the lens hood attached. You can still close the bag's flap somehow, but there is a visible and disturbing 1-2cm gap. I wanted to share this - perhaps it saves you a trip to town
Advertisement Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Hi bernie.lcf, Take a look here Leica Q Day Bag. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
digitalfx Posted June 18, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2015 However, the real issues is: the Q will not fit with the lens hood attached. WOW, this is a serious oversight. How do you possibly make such a mistake?
bernie.lcf Posted June 18, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted June 18, 2015 WOW, this is a serious oversight. How do you possibly make such a mistake? you should have seen the face of my dealer - he has not checked because he had not thought of this possibility...
alee Posted June 18, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 18, 2015 So close, yet so far... if they had made the tablet slot into a full compartment as well, it would probably be a bit more future-proof. I wonder if I could commission a custom bag to be built for roughly the same amount of money.
mjh Posted June 18, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 18, 2015 WOW, this is a serious oversight. How do you possibly make such a mistake? No mistake but a deliberate choice on Leica’s part. A bulge gets impractical if it is too large.
digitalfx Posted June 19, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2015 No mistake but a deliberate choice on Leica’s part. A bulge gets impractical if it is too large. Well if this is deliberate, then whoever deliberately designed it never uses a camera.

Sorry, but whoever has "deliberated" that, is obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer... This bag is completely useless for any serious photographer if the Q doesn't fit with the protecor and the lens hood attached.
viramati Posted June 19, 2015 Share #8 Posted June 19, 2015 http://uk.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-Q/Accessories/Q-Camera-accessories/Day-Bag As they say 'Impeccable design' and 'holds everything you need' Personally I'll stick with my Billingham 'Hadley small' and old and battered 'Hadley Pro' when I need to carry a bit more. Basically I'm afraid it is just a bag for the 'Fashionistas' and not of any real practical use unless you really need an enormous black red dot
tom0511 Posted June 27, 2015 Share #9 Posted June 27, 2015 Lowe Pro Adventura SH100 II fits perfect for the Q with hood, without grip. Its light, small, not too expensive and gives good protection. Very fast access to camera too.
Blues Bird Posted July 7, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 7, 2015 Any new user experiences on the day bag? Actually I emailed with one of the Leica guys in Wetzlar and he assured me that the Q with lens hood will fit in the day bag just fine. I he said he personally tried it out... So many I have check it out myself at the Leica store.
bernie.lcf Posted July 7, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted July 7, 2015 Like I said: "You can still close the bag's flap somehow, but there is a visible and disturbing 1-2cm gap." (yes, I actually tried that)
screwmount Posted July 7, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 7, 2015 The gap is no problem! Since the Lens is fixed, no dust can reach the sensor!
bernie.lcf Posted July 7, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted July 7, 2015 The gap is no problem! Since the Lens is fixed, no dust can reach the sensor! I don't think you get the point. If you are going to buy the day bag, I suggest you take a look at this before you hand over the credit card... You'll see what I mean.
