jrbelmuda Posted June 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 17, 2015 Hi radek, definetly a much improved and easier RF patch in the M240. Does not mean you would not learn and use successfully the M-E patch over time, still a learning curve for first time adopters of RF. ultimately still a noticeable improvement in the M240. All the best and welcome.. John
John Ricard Posted June 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 17, 2015 Agreed. It is easier to focus M240 than M9.
bocaburger Posted June 18, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 18, 2015 Before I bought an M240 I checked several of them against my M9 and could not see one whit of difference in the range/viewfinder other than the too-bright frame lines in the 240 which make it more difficult for me to focus in all but the brightest situations. Apparently the overly-bright frame lines make my pupils constrict enough to make seeing the rest of the finder more difficult. For my money Leica could go back to the previous design. jaapv Posted June 19, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2015 Although Leica doe not advertise it, both focusing accuracy and ease have been significantly increased on the M240. For a quick how-to have a look in the FAQ: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/125097-leica-m8-m82-m9-m9p-mm-mtyp240-faqs-questions-with-answers/?p=1371853

I would to know opnion of somenody who has experience with both It is what you get used to that counts. It is true for instance that the M240 viewfinder is nicer in some respects than the M9 viewfinder, but lets keep things in perspective, before the M240 the M9 viewfinder was the best and nobody was complaining about it then. Beginners used it, experienced people used it, there was nothing wrong with it then and there is still nothing wrong with it now. Steve
Radek Posted June 20, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted June 20, 2015 Thanks all of you. The dilemma which i have is to buy and m-e and two summarit 2.4 (35,90) or m240 and only 35 mm lens. I am used to use old iso 200,400,800 :-). Is corrosion issue valid for brand new m-e?
Guest Posted June 20, 2015 Share #10 Posted June 20, 2015 Yes to your last question. If you don't need your new Leica for the summer holiday, maybe you could wait. Regarding lenses, I suggest you continue to gather information. As far as the range-finder is concerned, you might consider renting or testing over the week-end with a reputable dealer in your area. Duane Pandorf Posted June 21, 2015 Share #11 Posted June 21, 2015 Thanks all of you. The dilemma which i have is to buy and m-e and two summarit 2.4 (35,90) or m240 and only 35 mm lens. I am used to use old iso 200,400,800 :-). Is corrosion issue valid for brand new m-e? If you were me I'd buy the M240 and the 35mm lens. I find that one lens will help you with the rangefinder experience. I find that the 35 is almost a permanent fixture to my M.
mltx Posted June 25, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 25, 2015 I have both M-240 and M-E. At the beginning, I thought M240 was easier to focus but after I got used to M240 RF focusing, so did I to ME, and now I cannot find substantial difference, in terms of RF focus, between M240 and ME. Maybe I missed something but that is my feel.
