stuny Posted May 20, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted May 20, 2007 5 mexag pixel vs. 7.2. Can make LCD display brighter in record or review to overcome the effects ofbright sunlight. Can make the LCD viewable well off the vertical axis. Lens might have greater reach - I can't recall the long end of the c-Lux-1. The C-Lux-2 long end equals 102 mm in 35mm terms. andit Posted May 20, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted May 20, 2007 Hi Tommy, Â As a very satisfied owner of a C-Lux 1, I would actually tend to say no. Does the 1mp difference really make a difference? Â I don't think so. I was actually quite shocked the other day. I tested a D-Lux3, with 10.2 mp, and was rather disappointed. While the D-Lux has 4mp more, I found that an awfull lot of detail actually went lost in the image and went in the direction of noise. Using the same settings, I got consistently better results with the little C-Lux. This is probably as a result of the actual pixel element size being smaller to fit in so much more on the same area size sensor. Smaller pixels mean that they need more light to react and are more prone to generate noise. Â The only thing that would make me consider an upgrade on my C-Lux 1 at this time, would be if they added manual exposure, and the saving of raw images. Â Another thing that has changed is that they have actually shortened the lens slightly. The original C-Lux had an equivalent of 105mm, whereas the new one has 102mm. One thing that I did notice from looking at the camera on the website, the Image Stabiliser button has disappeared off the camera. Â Hope this helps you a bit. I would tend to wait for the C-Lux 3 to come out - probably another year or so - that may just have a host of new features. Â Andreas
