Advertisement Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Hi DigitalHeMan, Take a look here Leica Forum Move on Friday / Saturday. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DigitalHeMan Posted April 11, 2015 Share #42 Posted April 11, 2015 One small point - if I go to 'New Content' and choose either 'items I participated in', or 'items I started', I only see threads that have been updated since the move to the new software. A small thing, maybe, but it would be handy to be able to view those threads all in one place again

DigitalHeMan Posted April 11, 2015 Share #44 Posted April 11, 2015 Please try again the mobile skin. Fault on my side. Andreas Yes, it works now, thank you! I'll use that on my mobile until Tapatalk becomes re-enabled
IkarusJohn Posted April 11, 2015 Share #45 Posted April 11, 2015 Nice job, Andreas. I like the new look. I notice that in the migrated topics, the most recent posts are from 10 April. Will subsequent posts get migrated across? Or are the posts from the last couple of days lost? I also note the new attachment manager has a note "requires Flash 9". I guess this rules out uploading attachments from Apple mobiles as iOS doesn't allow Flash ...
farnz Posted April 11, 2015 Share #46 Posted April 11, 2015 Well done, Andreas, the move appears to have gone smoothly and you must be due for some sleep. I prefer to have the latest post in a thread displayed at the top rather than at the bottom of a page as I did in the 'old' forum but I can't see how to do that in the forum's new clothes. Have I missed an obvious tick box somewhere? Pete.
farnz Posted April 11, 2015 Share #47 Posted April 11, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) One minor glitch I've noticed is that when looking at the members list and filtering by the number of posts using the tab it shows the members in the correct order but displays the number of 'likes' beside the member's name rather than the number of posts. (Perhaps I shouldn't have raised this because I appear to be second in the number of likes - to Stuart of course!) Pete.

andybarton Posted April 11, 2015 Share #49 Posted April 11, 2015 Simon That's now been sorted. Viewing via an iPhone on a very dodgy Welsh connection here and things are slowly populating.

IkarusJohn Posted April 11, 2015 Share #53 Posted April 11, 2015 One thing carried over from the old forum, New Content, as with New Posts, we get German as well as English language posts. For those of us who are not confidently bilingual, is it possible to filter out the German posts?

For those of us who are not confidently bilingual, is it possible to filter out the German posts? John, If you click on 'New Content', and then look at the options on the left hand side, you can choose 'Filter by Forum' at the bottom. Then you can select only the sub forums that you are interested in. It seems to be persistent as well, so it remembered the sub forums i had chosen even after logging out and back in again
IkarusJohn Posted April 11, 2015 Share #55 Posted April 11, 2015 Yes, I saw that, but it won't let me select the International Forum as a whole ...
pop Posted April 11, 2015 Share #56 Posted April 11, 2015 Yes, I saw that, but it won't let me select the International Forum as a whole ... Yes, but selecting all subtitles individually takes only a few moments and you can reap the result right now.
robert_parker Posted April 11, 2015 Share #57 Posted April 11, 2015 Hi Andreas This all looks very positive and congratulations on accomplishing a major task. If I might add two thoughts that came to mind straight away: 1) Background colour of the forum and for pictures. It may be just me but the white background looks a little stark, particularly when viewing photographs - for me the grey background from the old forum looked more cohesive and was easier on the eye, may be making the photographs look better, too. 2) Dividers between the major categories in the forum: There is a divider between the International and the German Forum but maybe some other key areas could be 'fenced out' as well, to give a better look - perhaps a divider that separates and highlights the International and the German photo fora would be a good idea Ps. It's a shame we've lost a couple of the more fun Emoticons in their original form - in particular, the 'Eeeek !!' symbol was may favourite.... MarkP Posted April 11, 2015 Share #58 Posted April 11, 2015 Yes, overall I like it! Well done Andreas. However, I do miss the full list of 'likes' at the bottom of each post rather than having to click and open up another window. Was there a reason for this as I really preferred the old format? I also liked that on the old forum I could access new posts since I last logged in which initially displayed new threads/posts and then immediately followed on with not new but unread threads/posts. Can this be re-instituted rather than having to chop and change between the two separately? And I too would very much like the the EEK emoticon back in (also one of my favourites), and not having the glaringly white background.

pop Posted April 11, 2015 Share #60 Posted April 11, 2015 I also liked that on the old forum I could access new posts since I last logged in which initially displayed new threads/posts and then immediately followed on with not new but unread threads/posts. When I select "new content", I see an list of options on the left hand side of the screen where I select "content I have not read". Does this not do what you are asking for? However, the new forum does not remember which posts in the old forum I have seen. It does, therefore, show the beginning of a thread which has new content and does not position the text at the first unread entry. It seems to do that for each thread exactly once. Once it has stored which posts I have seen, it will position the new content correctly, I believe.
