scott kirkpatrick Posted May 19, 2007 Share #21 Posted May 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) What god-given right? Leica offered this lens to you as a compensation for the wait you had to go through, but nowhere did they state that a little profiteering was fine with them. Apparently they don't like that, and that is their god-given right. It might make you grumpy, but they have not done anything they said they would not. I sensed satire in the post to which you are responding, Mark. scott

mwilliamsphotography Posted May 19, 2007 Share #22 Posted May 19, 2007 I ordered my 16-21 two and a half lifetimes ago. Not a peep from Leica. Nothing. Despite buying 2 M8s, (one in November, so I was eligible), and prior to that a MP3, and prior to that 2 M7s, and prior to that 2 M6 TTLs, and prior to that 2 M6s along with a "retirement fund" worth of lenses ... as far as I know I don't exist to them ... and never did. I love giving them all my money, and remaining completely anonymous. It's a special feeling.
guywalder Posted May 19, 2007 Share #23 Posted May 19, 2007 even better is giving them all your money, then being told you need to pay all over again because they cant trust you to use a menu setting properly.....
carstenw Posted May 19, 2007 Share #24 Posted May 19, 2007 I sensed satire in the post to which you are responding, Mark. scott Hmm, you could be right, Jonathan. Mal sehen was kommt.
Bill W Posted May 19, 2007 Share #25 Posted May 19, 2007 I ordered my Nocti on March 12. Leica sent back the original receipts with a letter of confirmation dated March 19. I received it here in the USA on March 31. It required that I go to the post office and sign for it. I have waited now about 9 weeks and they told Cindy Flood 4 to 5 months. I hope I do not have another 3 months of waiting. They will probably build all of the 30% off Nocti at the same time given that some of the glass is very labor intensive to manufacture. It is my understanding that when they build a certain lens, they ramp up and build a run of them at one time. This would make sense given that Leica is really a small company. Patience! James Mitchell Posted May 19, 2007 Author Share #26 Posted May 19, 2007 I think that Leica USA's controlled registration is precisely to prevent people from selling the lenses with full support attached. You're not supposed to get the two free 6-bit coding vouchers either. This is another way to prevent Leica USA from giving out vouchers, as they know under which promotion for bought the lenses at a discount.
