Shipping Time for 30% Discounted Lenses?

Leica USA was anticipating a shipment of lenses to arrive last Friday. If your credit card has been charged, that is a pretty good indication your lens was in that batch and will be going out this week.

The lens arrived today, a beautiful little lens. It is packaged as a USA model, except that the Passport Warranty card was torn off, so that I cannot register it. Does anyone know what warranty comes with these 30%-off lenses? I can't imagine that there will be no warranty.

I ordered a WATE and a Nocti at the end of January. They had some issue as to what consitituted an "original" invoice, so we went back and forth on this in February. I received the Nocti 3 weeks ago and the WATE has shipped to NJ. They send the documentation back at the point in time when they are fairly close to shipping.

i ordered a wate in february; sent in a faxed copy of my Popflash receipt (cash paymant). March 20 I received the confirmation. in April, I contaced Leica and ws told lenses take 6-10 weeks to deliver. I am at 8 weeks since confirmation right about now. no lens yet.

I ordered a 75/2.0 in late January. Sent the paperwork to Solms. Popflash receipt, which I printed from electronic original and credit card statement showing the charge. Some confusion possible because I have a US and an overseas address. Anyway, it disappeared. Called them in March and resubmitted paperwork by fax. It was recorded and the paperwork returned in late March. My credit card hasn't been charged yet, so no lens. Has anyone else gotten a 75/2.0 by this channel?

Nor can I. I recall from earlier recipients that the US lenses, which are delivered through Leica USA, do come with passport warranty. Why don't you assume there was a mistake and call them?

hi, scott- similar sitch for me, forgot to send receipt with order form, was told to fax to someone in solms, within about a month a 28mm f/2.0 showed up at my door. they seem to handle these ad hoc things pretty well, so i assume you're in process.

 

and enclosed was a passport warranty card that i completed and returned.

The wait on the Noctilux is now 4-5 months! I just ordered this week. I was having a hard time--Noctilux vs. WATE....back and forth.

 

I got the following information from Solms today:

 

"Please note that the delivery and billing will be made through Leica USA directly.

Concerning the delivery date we ask for your patience. We have a high income of

orders for the Noctilux and the delivery time will be approx. 4-5 months."

Wow!, ouch! I bet you weren't expecting that lead time?. I ordered mine and got confirmation week 12 (22 march) for delivery approx 8 weeks week 20 which is now. No sign yet. Looks like very many have placed orders before the offer deadline. But that's a serious lead time for delivery.

 

However, look on the bright side, by the time you have to pay and Leica deliver, odds are there will have been another price increase on the Nocti and your 30% which is now worth 50% could very well be worth 70% off, ;) .

 

Truly frustrating, once you set your heart on something then be told you wont have it for half a year, it's not fair.:rolleyes:

Scott, I called Leica USA. They registered my lens themselves and have the passport warranty card already in the mail to me. That's why it was torn off in what I received.

 

Is Leica doing this to all of the 30% discounted lenses? Seems that they're trying to stop me from exercising my god-given right of making a buck by selling the lens as new on e-bay.

What god-given right? Leica offered this lens to you as a compensation for the wait you had to go through, but nowhere did they state that a little profiteering was fine with them. Apparently they don't like that, and that is their god-given right. It might make you grumpy, but they have not done anything they said they would not.
