James Mitchell Posted May 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered a 28/2.8 ASPH back in January. The order was "booked" with Leica USA on March 1, and my credit card was just charged today. Can I expect the lens to arrive soon? Anyone with experience on Leica USA's shipping for these lenses? Advertisement Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Hi James Mitchell, Take a look here Shipping Time for 30% Discounted Lenses?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotografr Posted May 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2007 Leica USA was anticipating a shipment of lenses to arrive last Friday. If your credit card has been charged, that is a pretty good indication your lens was in that batch and will be going out this week.
leicabug Posted May 15, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2007 Does this mean that Leica USA has just received a shipment of 28/2.8? Does this also mean that dealers will also recieved their shipment of 28/2.8 soon?
tbarker13 Posted May 15, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2007 Alas, no sign of any charges for my 50 lux. It was booked back on March 19. Anyone else received a 50 lux lately through the discount program? Wondering what sort of time frame they have on those.
James Mitchell Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted May 18, 2007 The lens arrived today, a beautiful little lens. It is packaged as a USA model, except that the Passport Warranty card was torn off, so that I cannot register it. Does anyone know what warranty comes with these 30%-off lenses? I can't imagine that there will be no warranty.
J_Brittenson Posted May 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 18, 2007 What papers did you guys send in? I only have an invoice/receipt from popflash, not a credit card statement. They also want the original invoice; I assume they'll return it when they're done.
Woody Campbell Posted May 18, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered a WATE and a Nocti at the end of January. They had some issue as to what consitituted an "original" invoice, so we went back and forth on this in February. I received the Nocti 3 weeks ago and the WATE has shipped to NJ. They send the documentation back at the point in time when they are fairly close to shipping.
jlm Posted May 18, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 18, 2007 i ordered a wate in february; sent in a faxed copy of my Popflash receipt (cash paymant). March 20 I received the confirmation. in April, I contaced Leica and ws told lenses take 6-10 weeks to deliver. I am at 8 weeks since confirmation right about now. no lens yet. scott kirkpatrick Posted May 18, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 18, 2007 I ordered a 75/2.0 in late January. Sent the paperwork to Solms. Popflash receipt, which I printed from electronic original and credit card statement showing the charge. Some confusion possible because I have a US and an overseas address. Anyway, it disappeared. Called them in March and resubmitted paperwork by fax. It was recorded and the paperwork returned in late March. My credit card hasn't been charged yet, so no lens. Has anyone else gotten a 75/2.0 by this channel? scott

I can't imagine that there will be no warranty. Nor can I. I recall from earlier recipients that the US lenses, which are delivered through Leica USA, do come with passport warranty. Why don't you assume there was a mistake and call them? scott

tbarker13 Posted May 18, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 18, 2007 I wonder if shipping time is less on certain lenses. The 28 2.8 and the 50 lux both seem to be severely backlogged. I wonder if it is the same story with most of the more popular lenses.
carstenw Posted May 18, 2007 Share #14 Posted May 18, 2007 The WATE is very back-ordered. I have just bought one from my favorite dealer, and he is throwing around some weight to get it quickly, but I still have a long wait in front of me.
James Mitchell Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share #15 Posted May 18, 2007 Scott, I called Leica USA. They registered my lens themselves and have the passport warranty card already in the mail to me. That's why it was torn off in what I received.
Cindy Flood Posted May 18, 2007 Share #16 Posted May 18, 2007 The wait on the Noctilux is now 4-5 months! I just ordered this week. I was having a hard time--Noctilux vs. WATE....back and forth. I got the following information from Solms today: "Please note that the delivery and billing will be made through Leica USA directly. Concerning the delivery date we ask for your patience. We have a high income of orders for the Noctilux and the delivery time will be approx. 4-5 months."
Eoin Posted May 18, 2007 Share #17 Posted May 18, 2007 ....delivery time will be approx. 4-5 months." Wow!, ouch! I bet you weren't expecting that lead time?. I ordered mine and got confirmation week 12 (22 march) for delivery approx 8 weeks week 20 which is now. No sign yet. Looks like very many have placed orders before the offer deadline. But that's a serious lead time for delivery. However, look on the bright side, by the time you have to pay and Leica deliver, odds are there will have been another price increase on the Nocti and your 30% which is now worth 50% could very well be worth 70% off, . Truly frustrating, once you set your heart on something then be told you wont have it for half a year, it's not fair.

Seems that they're trying to stop me from exercising my god-given right of making a buck by selling the lens as new on e-bay.
Cindy Flood Posted May 19, 2007 Share #19 Posted May 19, 2007 I'm just happy to be getting a Noctilux. I could have ordered sooner, but I dragged my feet. I'm having so much fun with the M8 and the lenses that I have...I can't complain.

Seems that they're trying to stop me from exercising my god-given right of making a buck by selling the lens as new on e-bay. What god-given right? Leica offered this lens to you as a compensation for the wait you had to go through, but nowhere did they state that a little profiteering was fine with them. Apparently they don't like that, and that is their god-given right. It might make you grumpy, but they have not done anything they said they would not.
