...just picked up a Elmar-M90mm F4 collapsible lens in almost pristine condition but it doesn't have any end caps. I'm assuming that the standard plastic M mount caps would mount on the rear but what do I use for a front cap? I've seen some photos of the lens with a silver front cap but can't seem to find any on Ebay.

I'm so stoked because I checked the provenance on the lens and it's 1954...just about 60 years old. I took a few test shots today and am seriously impressed with how sharp it is even wide open at F4... :)

I never expected it to be this sharp...

It is sharp at f/5.6 and on indeed but f/4 is somewhat softer, at least with my sample. Anyway, the regular lens cap is the ORQDO (14031) but the 14321 should fit as well.

I was out in bright sunlight and I'm pretty sure the lens was wide open when I took some test shots this afternoon but indoors under dim lighting and a very slow shutter speed it was soft at F4.

thanks for the info....

I didn't want to pay $105 for the original or even $35 for just a lens cap but I found this on Ebay and I think it might work.

It's a 42mm cap and looks like it will fit the lens nicely for $15.99...do you think it would work?
