sfethan Posted February 9, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's been an issue since I first got my M9. The battery charging adapter light indicator shows the batter is completely charged(both lights are on). But when I put the battery into my M9 and click on "info" button, the battery bar still has a little bit of "red" left, meaning the battery is not fully charged. Anyone has the same problem? is there anyone to fix it? Thanks
Advertisement Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Hi sfethan, Take a look here M9 batter "fake" fully charged?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Manoleica Posted February 9, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 9, 2015 Have you tried running the battery right down in the camera? then recharging! If still no luck have both the battery & charger replaced, if that fails to cure the issue have your camera checked out. Maybe your local store will lend you another battery & charger...then you can try to narrow it down to either battery or charger, hopefully not your camera.. sfethan Posted February 9, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted February 9, 2015 Thanks for the reply. I just found out that maybe I shouldn't take the battery off of the charger too quick right after the "charging completed" indicator light is on. I left the battery plugged in on the charger for another hour after the indicator light shows that it's completely charged, then put it into the camera, and now it shows that it's "really" fully charged. weird behavior... jaapv Posted February 9, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 9, 2015 Obviously the charger is not measuring the state of charge 100% correctly. Not worth getting another charger for, though IMO, unless you are going on an extended trip where you would take a backup charger anyway.
sfethan Posted February 11, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted February 11, 2015 I have 3 chargers(1 came with M9 and 2 used) and 4 batteries total...I must been out of my mind to buy that many. I was afraid that Leica might stop producing M9 batteries someday soon...

tobey bilek Posted February 11, 2015 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2015 My new M9 came with a battery that would not charge at all in the charger. It would charge however in the M8 charger. Dealer sent me a new battery and I returned old one
FlashGordonPhotography Posted February 13, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 13, 2015 This is normal behaviour if the batteries are not genuine but unusual if they are. Are you using only genuine M9 batteries? Gordon

sfethan Posted February 13, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted February 13, 2015 I don't understand what you mean. You mean we still have around 10 years before Leica stop manufacturing M9, M-E, M9-P, Monochrom batteries? Ten years after discontinuation of the Monochrom and ME..... jaapv Posted February 13, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 13, 2015 Yes - well, not making, ordering and buying... The target for after sales service with Leica is ten years after discontinuation of a camera model. So batteries will be available until at least 2026. There have been a couple of "acts of God" admittedly, but on the whole the track record has not been too bad. As for batteries they can always be refurbished. Anyway, a battery bought now will certainly be dead in ten years time; they don't wear down with use that much, they deteriorate over time.
sfethan Posted February 16, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted February 16, 2015 Thanks. 10 year from now. Let's see if my M9 could last that long :-)
