M240 ignores minimum shutter speed (aka Max Exposure Time)

Auto iso in auto mode and in manual mode are two different things actually. The former works the way it does on the M240 since the beginning if memory serves. As long as i can use auto iso in manual mode as an option i don't mind it at all personally. As clear as i recall, beta testers did not object about that when we were working on firmware update 2.0.1.5 which added this option together with auto iso lock by half pressing the shutter release in june 2014.

Hi,

I use Auto ISO in manual mode most of time. Think it works flawlessly - never experienced any strange behavior...

The fact that at the same time I also can use front dial to make Exp. compensation makes the whole function perfect to me.

I know this is not really answer to your question, but just wanted to inform you, that in manual mode everything seems to be working just fine...

Cheers / Alex

Why has there not been a new firmware update recently? One would also think that as leica offers upgrades to its models an upgrade to the m240 could be offered! It's a shame because firmware upgrades even if they only off minor fixes instill brand confidence. Your computer constantly offers firmware upgrades and you feel great about it.

Why would anyone let the camera automate both ISO and Sutter Speed variables? It seems like that's asking for dissatisfaction in the compromises that will be made by the camera's operating system for you. Expecting operational perfection in such a situation is naïve.

It's a very valid use case, and the camera should be able to handle it with ease. For example, the Leica M8 works correctly.

Auto ISO is most useful for the camera in manual mode with a known shutter speed, and the ISO being allowed to adjust to match the meter. That involves fewer compromises that might spoil an image.

Not for me. I use auto ISO in A mode. In manual mode, i like 'everything' to be manual.

I am also happy for the auto iso to work within the set parameters of ISO and Shutter Speed whenever it can, but then sacrifice the shutter speed when it needs to so a correct exposure is made. Makes sense to me.
