I thought I had the same problem and sent the 240 & a few lenses to DAG in Wisconsin (he does great work)

It turned out that the problem was not the lenses or the body - the RF was off.  He adjusted it and got everything back to me in 4 or 5 days

Has been perfect ever since, about 3 years.  A bump to the body in the right spot can throw the RF out of alignment.  Years ago I also had to have M3's and an M6 adjusted also

If many lenses have a similar front or back focus issue, the RF should be checked by a approved Leica tech

Turning the camera off/on will have no effect on the mechanical linkage that makes up the rangefinder.   It will effect the frame lines.  I'd agree with jaapv's "finger in front of the window" as a more likely cause. A finger on your right hand positioned just below the speed dial will cause the focus rectangle to disappear.

A rangefinder out of adjustment will not make the focus patch disappear.
