Bette.

M240 with 50/1 Noctilux.

How did you light the front side of her face?   I have been struggling with children's portraits all weekend using window light.  None turned out like this.  Magnificent.

I suspect a flat card or reflector, plus a bit of light from the liquid in the cup to create the small bright area.

Agree. A magnificent image.

Thank you both.

The tea cup was empty and I used its interior to reflect light onto her face by turning her head until it worked.  I used a bone china cup because I thought the glaze would be more reflective.  Sometimes things just work out and I'm happy to say that Bette and I were fortunate on this occasion.

(As a back up I had thought about putting a 'tea light' candle in the cup to produce a little more light but I was concerned about the heat close to her face and fortunately the light from the cup on its own was delightfully subtle so I didn't need to try it.)

Pete.

Skater on the Train - The man's "battle scars" obviously a result of risk taking moves on the skateboard (more obvious on the colour version). I had to ask anyway because he had quite a few bruisings and scratchings. Maybe he was a beginner, an aging probie perhaps? He seemed genuine but something was bothering me about his presenting story.  SL2S with Summilux M 35 Asph.

Good on you for the rescue adoption.  I would imagine Oliver hears quite well. 🙂
