Ella, SL2, SL lux, one strobe

Ella is a cleaning woman in our firm, outsourced ofcourse, as it goes in multinationals. Not sure why she tooks this job, as normally older women take this. Ella is young and could make may be better money either in a store or in horeca. But, this is not my business.

So, as I meet Ella daily, I asked her for a portrait. It took me weeks, but today she gave in. I wanted to portrait her strong, not vulnerable as she normally looks in her working outfit.

Really like this one, Olaf! The skin texture is gorgeous. Did you do much work on it in post? Have you added grain?

What does she think of it?

@LocalHero1953: i removed all acne, she had quite some on her chin, and d&b the skin a bit more. Added some blacks to her brows, and some clarify on the eyes. Put quite some effort on the background as the original was totally off (should not even have used that one). Added grain.

The skin is mostly due to the lux and some softening in post. The lux is great for portraits and shines from nearby. However, still softening is needed as the lux is not as gentle as a sonnar.

She didn’t came back to me yet…

A great portrait Olaf. One of your best. I would leave the shadows as they are. They add drama and are not unflattering. The only change I would make, would be to raise the image slightly in the frame. As it is, the image appears too low in the frame, for my idea of balance. OTOH, you may well like it as it is.
