An ambitious use of Kodak Ektar 100 because of its characteristics, but you have made it work well. I detect on my screen a slight crossover of Red & Cyan (skin V's hair) which is usually a factor of the film. I would have cropped up from the bottom to throw emphasis to the face more as well as eliminating the distracting fingers. Just my opinion.

Yes i agree.. the unlikeliest film stok I probably wanna use for portrait studio but i think im kinda liking it thank you for pointing out the colour cast, im really bad with colour cast probably due to my partial colour blind yes and i think i should have more guts with cropping since i m not used to 6 hours ago, wda said: I might have cloned out the fingertips at the base. Mr.Prime Posted March 9, 2022 Share #2990 Posted March 9, 2022 The Chef. (UK) A 'situational portrait'. I'm still struggling to like Portra 400 in 35mm format due to grain. erl Posted March 9, 2022 Share #2991 Posted March 9, 2022 Portra 400, IMO, is the superior colour film these days, depending on what ones intended purpose is of course. And very expensive also! The grain can be affected by either the processing or the scanning, or both. Too many variables, I know. With your shot above: my suggestion would be, knock a little bit of Red out and increase the levels in the Darker direction. This purely a 'taste' opinion, but just might improve things for your POV.
carl_valiquet Posted March 9, 2022 Share #2992 Posted March 9, 2022 Lost in thought The men were taking a break while their ship was being unloaded of its fish in Pekalongan, East Java. They had been out to sea for a month. All the way from Papua. I approached the group, they continued resting, ignoring my presence. I began making images with a 50mm till I noticed this fisherman with his intense look and strong features. I changed from a 50 to a 75 mm Apo-Summicron wide open. A wonderful but difficult lens to focus (especially at 6 in the morning!). I recently discovered the pleasure of using this focal length. I love its rendering. M10R Apo Summicron 75. erl Posted March 9, 2022 Share #2993 Posted March 9, 2022 Nice moment captured. I agree that the 75mm is an excellent lens, but difficult to focus, because of the 'short throw'. It is, IMO, harder to focus than the Noctilux which I also have. IMO, the secret to focusing both lenses is to slow down a bit, take the time to be sure you are accurate. Difficult under stressful moments.

Confirms my opinion regarding the focussing wide open of this 75mm. Great lens to help one become more ZEN and learn to breath slowly. Regards. I got so frustrated trying to use it wide open during portrait sessions that I bought a Visoflex. That has helped a lot. I use the Visoflex only with this lens; I have no problem focusing my other, shorter-focal-length lenses using the rangefinder.
wda Posted March 10, 2022 Share #2996 Posted March 10, 2022 Why not try an eyepiece magnifier? I have a 1.4x for use with the 75 mm Summarit, which is equally challenging close to the subject.
erl Posted March 10, 2022 Share #2997 Posted March 10, 2022 As a segue, after a cataract operation, I found ALL my lenses easier to focus. Sometimes it is not the gear. 😁

I think it will also be good to compose with a 21mm. If I am not mistaken, I can attach it to the M10. Regards. Carl p.s. I took a peek at your web site. Really nice.
